32 bit detritus

Hello All - I've been putting off the Catalina update for a number of reasons but now want to understand if my Adobe installation is ready. I've run About this Mac / System Report/ Applications and sorted by 64 bit - There are still a lot of Adobe entries in the 32 bit column. I've only ever used Creative Cloud and have a current subscriptions which is automoatically kept up to date on this machine. I'm half assuming that Adobe can't be bothered to clean up after they update and that all this stuff is irrelevant  but before I stop myself working with no way back I thought I would check..

The report shows the following Adobe compnents on my HDD which will not work in Catalina.

Detritus indeed.  You have to decide for yourself which is more important -- the latest and greatest OS that limits you to 64-bit apps only or staying where you are with Mojave and the flexibility to use older apps if needed.   Remember, a lot of helper apps and  plugins are still 32-bit and will never be updated.  Catalina will kill them.   Can you cope with that?   A lot of Apple users are wishing they had stayed at Mojave.

Thanks Nancy - That's helpful. I don't use any of the older apps and I've checked the helper apps and plugins I use and I'm lucky that they are recent and compatible. I still think it's worth sitting on my hands for a while yet though on my 'work' machine.

My 'play' machine is even more clear cut - same problems with Adobe but on the audio and video apps side, the advice is to not uprgrade under any circumstances for the foreseable future!

IMO there is no need to read all of your post. Actually I'm a Windows guy but I have owned Mac's and still own an older iMac from 2011. You are looking for justification for making your life harder

Let me ask you a few questions. Maybe 2 maybe 3.

Is the computer you are currently using functioning properly with the version of OS X that is currently installed?

Does it run all the programs you need to do whatever you do to make money or have fun using it?

If the answers to those 2 questions are YES it runs fine. Yes it runs all the software I need. Then why are you trying to fix something that is not broken.

I said I am a Windows guy. Guess when I upgrade to Windows 10, last week maybe 1.5 weeks ago. Win 10 came out at the end of July 2015.

I upgraded to Window 7 sometime in 2011. Win 7 came out in 2009. Never ran Win 8 or 8.1.

My iMac is running High Sierra. It runs all Adobe, MS and whatever other software I care to use on it.

STOP trying to fix something that is not broken.

Thanks for the reply but it's not really any help - I _want_ to upgrade as the mail and sidecar improvements will be very useful for my productivity. I've been using a personal computer for productivity applications since1988 so am well aware of 'if it aint broke don't fix it' and on this occasion I want to gain the new features. The original question which I was hoping a Mac Expert could help me with is 'is all this 32 but stuff that's still on my machine just rubbish from old installations or is it vital to the functioning of my Adobe Suite ?' If it's vital then I can't upgrade the OS as the new version is exclusively 64 bit. Googling around there is a belief forming that an Adobe Installation just shovels a whole bunch of stuff onto your drive which is not OS version specific. It's only now that this is significant. Any thoughts Hive Mind ?
