activate legacy product cs photoshop version 8 w/image ready & illustrator 11?

How is this possible if they have no internet activation and the phone number they list tells you to go to the web site www.adobe.com/go/activation  but it wont allow you to do this from that point either.  I have been using my older software for years until the HD failed and I had to replace the HD and reload all my software.  Now as a result it is prompting me to re-activate only it wont let me do so.  How frustrating.  I bought the product years ago but I still paid for it.  I can understand being told that they will not service updates anymore but not allowing activation...seems wrong because I bought the product (even if it was years ago).
