Activate old CS3

I've received a new serial number and downloaded and installed the updated CS3. Upon opening programs after installation, I have no opportunity to enter the new serial number, the serial number from my original copy is already entered and unchangeable. I only receive a message that it needs to be activated.

How can I re-activate this program?

Thanks

    uninstall cs3 (using the uninstaller)

    clean per http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

remove the cache.db file from Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Adobe/Adobe PCD/cache/

    restart your computer

follow the steps here to install cs3, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/activation-fails-cs3-acrobat-8.html

I have more or less the same problem as the OP:

I've uninstalled CS3, restarted my PC, downloaded and installed the updated CS3. Now when I open a CS3 program, I see the "Activation - No Connection" message. I tried "Activate over the telephone" and on that screen the new Serial No is displayed, along with an Activation Code.

But on ringing the phone number I'm told phone activation no longer exists and am sent to adobe.com/go/activation - at which point I'm pretty much back where I started.

    Any suggestions?

    thanks

confirm that you can connect to the secure adobe servers.

for help with that and other common secure adobe.com connection problems read, http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html
