Activation code required for Photoshop CS6 activation?

My husband purchased a copy of CS6 for me on Ebay.  It looked to be legitimate.  I installed it and it seems to be running fine, however at the time of installation it never triggered a request for a serial number, activation code, or anything.  Is that how CS6 works?  I had a CS3 version already on my computer when installing this.  We're just concerned this may be a trial version or some kind of partial version.  Any thoughts or experience with this?

Was that on disc, or via download?

If on disc, was it "clearly" an original Adobe disc, or something someone made?

If download, you have a HACKED program... and you may also have malware on your computer to steal your information

This was not a download.  It was a disc.  The disc itself looks authentic, with the label and all of the copyright fine print, etc.  If this is really a trial version or copycat deal, I hope we can get our money back.  Ebay had a money back guarantee within so many days, and the place my husband bought it showed a money back guarantee as well.  Since I don't have the cloud, I can't seem to find where i can chat with Adobe about this.  I appreciate your input, thank you.

    open ps>click help>is activation clickable?

if so, click it to activate your software with your serial number otherwise you're using a 30 day trial.

No, there is no "Activation" in the help menu, and I can't find a serial number anywhere on the disc or on the case.
