Adobe CC 2015 .pkg keeps freezing on 'Running Package Scripts'

Hey guys, I've found a few posts about this during a general search on google but I have to admit explanations start to get a little complicated and I get lost - would someone be able to offer some help in dummy terms?

I have a staff account with a university which allows me to download the Adobe CC 2015 (64bit) package for Mac - it downloads fine. I double click the .pkg file which opens up the installer - go through the process until 'running package scripts' and it freezes about 3rd way through every single time.

I've made several attempts, having to hard boot my mac each time as I can't close/cancel the installer. I noticed then that I had several adobe folders on my hard drive from the multiple attempts at installing but none of the applications will open - so I used Adobe Clean Up Tool to get rid of everything adobe-related and started again - but still it freezes..

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.1 on a Macbook Pro (late 2011)

I'd appreciate any help guys,

you should be downloading and installing the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud

UPDATE: the installer now says 'failed to install'

clean per Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

restart your computer

reinstall.

Still receiving this message however despite doing the cleanup and restarting
