Question

Adobe CS4 (re) installation under Windows 10

I installed Adobe CS4 from CD-ROM onto a newly-purchased HP WIndows laptop computer about a year ago.  I has worked fine and gotten lots of use (primarily Dreamweaver and Photoshop) until recently, when Photoshop, when asked to crop an image, would delete the whole image, and I was starting to see other idiosyncracies, so I decided to uninstall and then re-install CS4.  Uninstall worked fine, but when I try to re-install from the CD-ROM, on the opening page I click on Install, and then see the message "Preparing to Install...", except an hour later I still see the message "Preparing to Install..."

Please help.

Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10

-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window

-or Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 to assign FULL Windows permissions may help... this says Encore, but is sometimes required for ALL Adobe programs (this is NOT the same as using an Administrator account) so follow the instructions, substituting the name and location of your specific program for Encore
