Adobe CS6 Student/Teacher Product Code swap from Windows to Mac?

New Here ,
Jan 19, 2019 Jan 19, 2019

Hello Adobe Community,

In 2013 I purchased Adobe's educational version of CS6 for undergrad work. This was a box set that contained both a Windows AND Mac version of the program.

I am now in grad school and still use the CS6 version for Windows, which works well. However, I recently bought a Mac and wanted to install my Mac copy - but have searched EVERYWHERE and cannot find a place to redeem my original Product Code. No, I do NOT have a "Redemption Code", but a "Product Code" printed on a slip of paper inside the original box. I have a receipt from my campus store proving my purchase, if needed.

Is there ANY way I can still redeem my serial number/activation key for my Mac copy of CS6 using this Product Code? Or is this a part of Adobe's marketing plot to screw over past users by not allowing them to activate older versions of the products they paid good money for? Is there ANY POSSIBLE WAY I can still redeem my serial number for this program?

Iant34186376, sorry you are facing difficulties with installing Creative Suite 6.  I reviewed the software titles registered under your account and the only Creative Suite 6 software title registered is for the Education version of Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium for Windows.  This was not a multi-platform license, and you would have had a separate serial number if you also purchased the Mac version of Creative Suite 6 Design and Web Premium.

A product code had to be verified (that you are a student), to get a serial number. I doubt this is kept open for years and years, people were expected to redeem promptly.

Your product is unusual, never heard of a dual platform box of CS6 before. Not saying you don't have one, because Adobe make so many things, but it means we have limited experience.

If it WASN'T dual platform, and CS6 was the current shipping version, you could ask Adobe for a platform swap (Exchange a product for a different language or platform version ) But it stopped being the current shipping version in 2014. However, I do remember Adobe very generously kept the platform swap offer open for many years. I think they only stopped it last year.

You may also be expecting a lot from Mac compatibility. Apple change Macs and Mac OS often and dramatically, Part of getting a new Mac is also getting all new apps. This is part of the Joy of Mac, and should be included in the budget.

CS6 swap is now ended https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/exchange-product-language-os.html

I agree with TSN, you should have redeemed your code when you bought the product to get a Mac serial number

CS6 is no longer sold, and I doubt Adobe still has the redemption portal open for that very old product

For information on how you can locate your registered software titles see Find your serial number .  Since it is the Education version of Creative Suite 6, then the retail installation files available at Download Adobe Creative Suite 6 applications may not accept the serial number.

The serial number will only be accepted for an installation under the Windows operating system; it will not work with any of the Mac installation files available.  As John mentioned in post #2, we have now ended the ability to swap platforms from Windows to Mac.  You may want to use a Windows virtual machine, if you wish to use your CS6 Design and Web Premium software on your Mac.
