Adobe photoshop cs5 extended - check licence

Guest

I have been given (the giver did not want it) a copy of educational version of adobe photoshop cs5 extended for MAC.  I have the coupon code from the boxed media.  Can I find out if it has been formally licenced/registered to the person who gave it (or anyone for that matter).  Don't want other party info, just want to know whether it can still be legally registered by a student/teacher/etc.  I cannot attempt to licence/register it as this requires eligibility and I am not a student/teacher/etc.

If there was a serial number, you could ask support to check... but I don't think a redemption code works that way, since as far as I know, only a serial number is entered into the Adobe activation server database

Also, if you have a Mac with El Capitan, you may or may NOT even be able to install and run that old version

But, since I don't work for Adobe, you should do the below

Chat/Phone: Mon - Fri  5am - 7pm  (US Pacific Time) <=== NOTE DAYS AND TIME

Hi John,

Thanks for your prompt answer, much appreciated!

He he he ... support was my first stop - they need the reg number which I don't have - and as you've pointed out is what gets stored.  They said "can't help, go to forums".

Thanks, have a great day!

Peter

Hi John,

Given as it's an educational licence, Adobe apparently do it manually, you have to send the "education eligibility" stuff to them with the "coupon code" and then they send you back a reg number  The question I guess is whether they actually do the reg or just send the number.  Either way, I don't want to register it in my name (and can't as do not have eligibility stuff) because then, apparently, the licence cannot be transferred.  The whole point of the exercise is to be able to sell the package.  The "coupon code" MUST be an identifier and they must record it somewhere else it could just be reused.  I wish they'd make it easy but still safe for themselves.  The sup[port line wound up saying they don't support this situation, go to forums.  I have little faith in Adobe's processes - I was one of those whose credit card details were exposed in the big hack - it took them 5 months to tell me by which time I knew anyway as my card got maxed out by the bandits ...

Cheers,

Peter
