I would like to re-activate Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0. I have the serial number yet it is not recognized. Any suggestion on how to proceed? (I am not interested in purchasing newer versions. I simply want to view and edit a few files. The software is very rarely used.)
I already contacted Adobe Help. Silly but they sent me to this forum.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Amccollum123 I am sorry that you unable to install Photoshop Elements 7. As Kglad and Jeff Arola have indicated the red x means that the serial number you are using is not accepted by the installer.
The installation files available for Photoshop Elements 7 at Download Photoshop Elements versions 9, 8, 7 are for retail licenses of Photoshop Elements 7 only. The serial number registered under your account, at http://www.adobe.com/, is for an OEM version of Photoshop Elements 7 for Windows. This

if you're seeing an invalid serial number message, and assuming you're using a valid adobe serial number (6 groups of 4 numbers), you have a mismatch between your installation file and serial number. ie, you can have a valid serial number, but if it's for program A and your installation file is for program B, you will see an invalid serial number message.
common mismatches are language/region (eg, serial number is for western europe and installation file is eastern europe), platform (eg, serial number is for a mac and installation file is win), license type (eg, education vs enterprise vs individual).
and one of the most common is using a program installation file with a suite's serial number. eg, using a cs6 suite serial number with a photoshop cs6 installation file. that won't work even though photoshop is included in that suite. you must use the suite's installation file (and you can choose to only install one program from the suite).
here's official info about that error, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-valid-product.html

As indicated, I have already downloaded the software. The problem occurs when inputting serial number to activate the product.
Can someone please help me resolve that issue?
Thanks!

Adobe has closed the activation servers for both CS2 and CS3 software... depending on the age of what you have, you may not be able to activate it
CS3 and Acrobat 8 activation server is retired https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2362726
-includes a link to a special installer and non-activation serial number
-and help with problems https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2371957
CS2 + Acrobat 7 + Audition 3 (AND EARLIER) Activation Server is gone, so read below
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK
You MUST use the special version and serial number on the page, not your original disc or serial number

I downloaded the Adobe Photoshop Elements installer, today, directly from Adobe's website. I copied the serial number, today, directly from the Adobe website. There was no mix-up in installation file or serial number as each was pulled directly from the Adobe site.
Again, I ask for assistance with the fact that the serial number is not recognized for Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0 (kglad - Thanks for your troubleshooting responses but I already combed through the listed scenarios and possible solutions before posting this question.)
Any new suggestions?

What do you see after entering your serial number?

Once the serial numbers are entered, a red X is shown.

that's an incorrect serial number unrelated to any server/connection to adobe.com.
your serial number should consist of 6 groups of 4 numbers. where did you find the number you are using?

The serial number is not incorrect. Yeah, I am aware that the red X is indicating that the serial number is not being accepted. Yet, as I have already stated, the serial number is the one that comes directly from the Adobe site. Yes...yes... 4 digits in groups of 6, 24 total, etc.
Hence my request,
In a nutshell, has anyone been able to re-activate Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0 recently? If you have, please share your method. If not, please let me know, so I can move on and find another tool. Aimlessly searching for a solution is not ideal.
kglad thanks for you efforts but I am seeking the thoughts of others who have actual experience with this issue - directly related to re-activating Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0. This does not seem to be you. Again, thanks for pasting a response but if you did not actually experience this problem, I do not you will be able to assist in solving it.
So those of you who have successfully solved this issue OR realized that there is no true solution please share your thoughts.
Thanks!

The serials for downloaded pse 7 versus dvd pse 7 are different.
In other words, if for example, when you purchased pse 7 you downloaded it, then the serial number is different than the serial for the dvd version,
.
I believe the version adobe has for download is the dvd version.
Anyway, i have the boxed version of pse 7 and the serial works fine in the adobe provided download of pse 7.
There is a chance that pse 7 is still able to be downloaded from your account.
https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-your-serial-number.html
It would help if adobe would look into the matter, since this has been a problem for several years, with probably at least a 100 posts over on the photoshop elements forum about this very same thing.

Thanks for the link however that is the exact location/ process I used to find the serial number. PSE 7 was downloaded via the web as I do not / did not have a laptop that has a cd/dvd drive.
As indicated, I iniatially contacted Adobe help services directly via their online chat. After sharing info with the rep, I was told the software was no longer supported. I was then instructed to post to this forum, where the question would potentially be answered from a rep here or the Adobe crowd.
I am hoping someone else has experienced this problem and found a viable solution. (However, when I look through the feeds related to PSE 7, none of them are marked solved.)

Did you originally get pse 7 through a download or did you buy a boxed version?

This means that you purchase Photoshop Elements 7 as part of a bundle. It could have been bundled with a camera, scanner, printer, or computer.
You will need to locate the installation files that were provided as part of the bundle. I can see that you registered Photoshop Elements 7 on 6-26-2012. I would recommend looking at any major purchases, you made during that time. to determine what item included Photoshop Elements 7.0.
For additional details on how to locate your registered serial numbers see Find your serial number.
Finally Amccollum123, I have confirmed that your license of Photoshop Elements 7 does not include activation technology so you do not need to be concerned about activation.

Hello,
I've found this page after running in the same issue.
Here's my recipe. To start the installer, right-click setup.exe and choose the Run as administrator option on the context menu. The installer shows the activation page (among other pages), you enter the key in this format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (X is a digit) and shout Hurray after PSE 7 starts. Hope this helps.
