Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0 re-activation

I would like to re-activate Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0.  I have the serial number yet it is not recognized.  Any suggestion on how to proceed?  (I am not interested in purchasing newer versions. I simply want to view and edit a few files.  The software is very rarely used.)

I already contacted Adobe Help.  Silly but they sent me to this forum.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link however that is the exact location/ process I used to find the serial number.  PSE 7 was downloaded via the web as I do not / did not have a laptop that has a cd/dvd drive.

As indicated, I iniatially contacted Adobe help services directly via their online chat.  After sharing info with the rep, I was told the software was no longer supported.  I was then instructed to post to this forum, where the question would potentially be answered from a rep here or the Adobe crowd.

I am hoping someone else has experienced this problem and found a viable solution.  (However, when I look through the feeds related to PSE 7, none of them are marked solved.)

Amccollum123 I am sorry that you unable to install Photoshop Elements 7.  As Kglad and Jeff Arola have indicated the red x means that the serial number you are using is not accepted by the installer.

The installation files available for Photoshop Elements 7 at Download Photoshop Elements versions 9, 8, 7 are for retail licenses of Photoshop Elements 7 only.  The serial number registered under your account, at http://www.adobe.com/, is for an OEM version of Photoshop Elements 7 for Windows.  This means that you purchase Photoshop Elements 7 as part of a bundle.  It could have been bundled with a camera, scanner, printer, or computer.

You will need to locate the installation files that were provided as part of the bundle.  I can see that you registered Photoshop Elements 7 on 6-26-2012.  I would recommend looking at any major purchases, you made during that time. to determine what item included Photoshop Elements 7.0.

For additional details on how to locate your registered serial numbers see Find your serial number.

Finally Amccollum123, I have confirmed that your license of Photoshop Elements 7 does not include activation technology so you do not need to be concerned about activation.

    Hello,

I've found this page after running in the same issue.

Here's my recipe. To start the installer, right-click setup.exe and choose the Run as administrator option on the context menu. The installer shows the activation page (among other pages), you enter the key in this format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (X is a digit) and shout Hurray after PSE 7 starts. Hope this helps.

In a nutshell, has anyone been able to re-activate Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0 recently?  If you have, please share your method.  If not, please let me know, so I can move on and find another tool.

Aimlessly searching for a solution is not ideal.

I downloaded the Adobe Photoshop Elements installer, today, directly from Adobe's website.  I copied the serial number, today, directly from the Adobe website.  There was no mix-up in installation file or serial number as each was pulled directly from the Adobe site.

Again, I ask for assistance with the fact that the serial number is not recognized for Adobe Photoshop Elements v7.0  (kglad - Thanks for your troubleshooting responses but I already combed through the listed scenarios and possible solutions before posting this question.)

    Any new suggestions?

What do you see after entering your serial number?

Once the serial numbers are entered, a red X is shown.

As indicated, I have already downloaded the software.  The problem occurs when inputting serial number to activate the product.

Can someone please help me resolve that issue?

    Thanks!

Adobe has closed the activation servers for both CS2 and CS3 software... depending on the age of what you have, you may not be able to activate it

CS3 and Acrobat 8 activation server is retired https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2362726

-includes a link to a special installer and non-activation serial number

    -and help with problems https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2371957

CS2 + Acrobat 7 + Audition 3 (AND EARLIER) Activation Server is gone, so read below

    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs2-product-downloads.html?promoid=19SCDRQK

You MUST use the special version and serial number on the page, not your original disc or serial number

if you're seeing an invalid serial number message, and assuming you're using a valid adobe serial number (6 groups of 4 numbers), you have a mismatch between your installation file and serial number.  ie, you can have a valid serial number, but if it's for program A and your installation file is for program B, you will see an invalid serial number message.

common mismatches are language/region (eg, serial number is for western europe and installation file is eastern europe), platform (eg, serial number is for a mac and installation file is win), license type (eg, education vs enterprise vs individual).

and one of the most common is using a program installation file with a suite's serial number. eg, using a cs6 suite serial number with a photoshop cs6 installation file.  that won't work even though photoshop is included in that suite.  you must use the suite's installation file (and you can choose to only install one program from the suite).

here's official info about that error,  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-valid-product.html
