The last month, month and a half, after one of the latest updates, this annoying red dot is about always there.
It goes away after clicking the icon (and the Creative Cloud window appears with nothing new), but it's back when my computer wakes up the next day.
I don't have a clue why.
There are no messages, no available updates and I don't see any setting that might cause this dot to be there.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of it before it pulls out my eye and suck it up?
Could it have to do with "syncing"? I have a Photography subscription, I use Lightroom Classic and I don't use the cloud.
Have you Turned OFF the option to Start Creative Cloud with the system as I described in the other conversation?????
If not then you will Always have that icon and wou Will see a Red dot on it every now and then.
As I said before you do NOT need to have the CC DTA running to use all other Adobe applications.

I had the same problem with the red dot when all my apps are current. In poking around I discovered that there was a message from Adobe re: corona virus that was sent about a month ago. Once I read that message, the red dot seems to have disappeared - hopefully forever.

Where do we find this message? I'd like to read it myself and maybe that silly red dot will finally go away.
Edit: Found it. In the CC app, click on the bell for notifications. There's the culprit; now click on it and dismiss the damned thing. With luck, problem solved.

No messages behind the bell for me, but still have the red dot. On two different machines.

This was wrongfully marked as the Correct Answer. It may have been for Fauxtō, but it is not a fix (nor workaround) to the problem. As a matter of fact, if there was a message and reading the message made the red dot go away until the next message, there was no problem at all.
This post is about having a red dot for nothing.

You're right, I was too eager for a fix. The red dot reappeared and is as persistent as ever. 😖

Same here, very annoying and I would rather not have to workaround this as described. Please fix this.

Read the 2 posts above yours. It is a Notification that is cause the Red Dot with No program updates.
Click the Bell icon in the CC DTA tool bar.

I have two different machines both showing the stupid red dot, and no notifications under the bell icon nor updates available.

No, it is not a notification, or an email, or anything else that I can see - which is the problem that others are complaining about as well.

Well, I don't see that as a fix. It is a workaround. I made no changes for over 2 - 3 years now with CC and have never seen this before until these last weeks. I only saw the red dot when there was something that actually needed to be updated, but the problem now is that this dot shows up with nothing needing to be updated (inc. the covid-19 email update). Needless to say, I've done the workaround as well (CC is no longer running), so will have to manually check for updates to my apps now, but at least I don't see the No-Notification, Notification Red Dot 😞 Thanks for the help at least, but Adobe should fix this.

This is super frustrating. I dont want to quit out of CC, I prefer to have it there to keep up to date on the apps. But can't stand that the red dot is there when there are NO updates and NO notifications on the little bell. It's either a bug, or they're trying to push people into using the CC app more. please fix this adobe!

Here's an update for anyone who suffers from red dots.
I wrote before that I "quit" instead of "hid" the Creative Cloud app for it to not appear in the Mac menu bar at all. And I did turn on macOS Notifications for Creative Cloud.
Since then I was notified about a Creative Cloud update two or three times. I applied every update, quitting the app after that. Perfect.
Today macOS Notifications showed there is an update for Photoshop.
So that's even more perfect.
There is really no need for the Creative Cloud icon to be in view, with or without red dots — well, except during the update process. Just quit Creative Cloud, don't hide it. And let macOS notify you when there's an update.

I didn't know that MacOS detected creative cloud app updates...That is really helpful to know that you don't need the creative cloud app to get the app updates, definitely quitting out of it immediately! That was the only reason I was leaving CC open, for updates. Otherwise, it's just a waste, for me at least. Thank you!

Thanks for the info!
Yesterday I got an update for Creative Cloud, I am now on 5.1.0.407 (Mac). I will leave that running to see if the red dot problem has actually been solved by Adobe.

Here it is June 2023 I still cannot turn off this wretched, distracting red dot that appears on the Adobe Cloud icon along my menu bar. Removing the icon from the Mac menu bar should not be the solution.
Every Adobe notification known to man on my primary workstation has been turned off, & still the dot reappears. I am happy to be reminded of app' updates, but this intrusive dot is unwelcome. The post (below) that was awarded a correct answer has a link to the solution that goes nowhere.

1. don't reply via email or remove your signature before sending. these are public forums.
2. reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:
Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

Kglad,
This would be lovely it worked, but it doesn't. I carried out the instructions for a Mac as you suggested. Then I rendered a file in AE and still the insidious little red dot appeared on my Adobe cloud icon. This irritation is about as welcome as an adolescent who enters adult dinner parties and makes puerile noises. Come to think of it, this is precisely what consumers have come to expect from the endless "look at me" antics of the corporate sector.
Adobe, how can this unwelcome interference be removed, permanently? I am not interest in any deals, or being reminded of secondary products via your marketplace. All I am interested in is you providing the application goods and customer services I pay for, nothing more.

With respect, why isn't Adobe replying to customer's comments in this thread, why a "community expert"?

these are user forums.
if you want to contact adobe support, there are 2 ways to contact adobe; chat and twitter:
chat:
use a browser that allows popups and cookies
and click here, https://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html?rghtup=autoOpen
in the chat field (lower right), type AGENT
be patient, it can take quite a while to reach a human.
twitter:
tweet @AdobeCare
p.s. if you're contacted by anyone (via email or private message), it's much more likely to be a scammer than an adobe representative. ie, double check for an employee badge if contacted in the forums and look for an adobe.com domain in the email address if you click reply to an email. then check again and be very suspicious. any other method of contacting (or offering to contact you) is almost certainly a scam, https://community.adobe.com/t5/using-the-community-discussions/staying-safe-in-the-adobe-support-com...

I gather you are saying this User Forum has been set up for paying customers to provide support to other customers in the place of an Adobe staffer on call to answer questions and trouble shooot? Are you being paid to do this work?
Contrast this with Topaz Labs' User Forum. This company welcomes all customer's comments, and provides a staffer for company "insider" information requested.

Very well, you are not paid to advise on this forum. Rather, you are someone who writes in a managerial, non-personable corporate style. That said I sense you are outlining a ckecklist of options without knowing what is causing the issue, or whether any item on your checklist will correct this. Please correct me if I am wrong.
In the absence of a responsible, technically informed Adobe representative here, to provide a quick solution to the matter, what we have are consumer comments that universally express frustration, without having an idea why the red dot appears, or how to turn it off.
Yes, removing the Adobe Cloud from one's dock or menu bar is a work around, but not a solution. I am reminded of the protracted run around customers went through for over a decade with Photoshop's "Motion" mode. Everyone who used Motion knew it wouldn't render, or crashed whilst rendering, yet Adobe being a good corporate citizen sat on their hands and said very little. Now, finally, Photoshop's Motion renders effectively about ninety percent of the time.
As this is a community forum I will ask again, and I care little what level of pecking order Adobe has assigned to you on the basis of previous community postings. Why is this irritating red dot appearing after After Effects has rendered a file - especially when all Notifications are turned off? And how can it be turned off permantly? Please, do not suggest I contact an Adobe "human": they are thin on the ground.
