Beta-testing Mac OS X Yosemite on a separate drive and I installed CS6 in order to make sure that it still works in Yosemite and my Adobe Illustrator CS6 in 10.9 will not launch anymore

I am beta-testing Mac OS X Yosemite on a separate drive and I installed CS6 in order to make sure that it will work in Yosemite. After several back-and-forth switches between 10.9 and 10.10, my Adobe Illustrator CS6 in 10.9 will not launch anymore. Does this have something to do with Adobe's licensing? How do I fix it in the 10.9 partition since it will eventually become my main partition in Yosemite? The present Yosemite partition will be deleted eventually.

Correct answer TonyAguila

TonyAguila then I would recommend removing all currently installed Adobe Creative software titles.  I would follow this by also using the CC Cleaner Tool.  You can find instructions and the download available at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

Do you use any type of system optimizers or utilities which maybe removing the language files?

Jeff, my problem with CC was resolved by using CC Cleaner Tool to remove CS5. After that, the CC downloads worked. However, that didn't fix the problem with Illustrator CS6, but at this point, since I now have Illustrator CC. I will have to set aside the issue for now so I can get back to doing actual work.

I think that I should have deactivated CS6 on my Mavericks partition before working in the Yosemite partition. Anyway, I can address this problem later when time allows. I wish I could test the CC suite in 10.10, but I can't afford to take any more chances and so I shall run CC in 10.9 and test CS6 in Yosemite. Illustrator CS6, by the way, still works in 10.10, and very well at that.

Thanks for your time, Jeff.

TonyAguila in what way is Illustrator CS6 no longer working?  Do you receive any specific error messages?

Jeff,

I also did a full reinstall. I uninstalled the entire suite (using the Adobe uninstaller) and then reinstalled from the installer disk. I then performed the requisite updates. Same problem. All the other apps are working fine except for Illustrator.

Tony - You may have found a final solution for your issue by this time, but this maybe helpful to others that have issues with Yosemite.

I installed Yosemite and CS5/Dreamweaver/PS would not work.  Said I needed upgrade to Java SE6 or above.

Went to the site below and download the product.  I did not have to reinstall CS5.  I haven't checked to see if it resolved any Illustrator conflicts.
