I'm asking b/c it seems as though updating an Adobe app WITHOUT it destroying my workspace is in fact impossible. W-T-F!!!!

I sure hope so because like you , my entire system no longer works as it should.
I was running El Capitan on an iMac when adobe said I needed to update my system as they were not going to support it. So I updated to High Sierra and all of a sudden I was getting updates from Adobe for photoshop and lightroom. Altho lightroom is now working, I can't switch over to photoshop for further processing. Plus photoshop nor Bridge will open .ARW files from Sony. So now I am left with a complete breakdown in my processing. I even checked adobe camera raw and although it is supposed to open the .ARW files the system says it can't.

Hey all, just a note to let you know that I contacted Adobe Support and they fixed my problems. It seems that there is an issue with Camera Raw and Mac OS which they are aware of. A Camera Raw for Mac had to be added to my system to allow me to use it.
I'm just not sure why an update for Mac OS failed in its original download.
But, Adobe staff made it right and were efficient and courteous.

Esealpha, which Adobe application are you updating? What errors are you facing with the update process? Finally, what type of Creative Cloud membership are you using in your workplace?

I update Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver literally NEVER works. I have to reset my workspace every single time. The other three its a crapshoot. This time Illustrator and InDesign failed to import my workspace. At least I was able to use a backup of my workspace and add them to the two. I have no idea where Dreamweaver stores them, since its different than the other apps. As is Photoshop. Not sure why Adobe cannot be consistent there either.

What question did I not answer? I have the CC version of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Dreamweaver. All of which I am updating. What other memberships are there? My problem is that Adobe cannot seem to manage an upgrade to its software that does NOT blow out one, two, or all of my workspaces.

Thanks for the additional information, Esealpha. The two remaining questions are as follows:
What errors do you receive when you attempt to update Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver?
What type of Creative Cloud membership did you purchase?
In addition, are you installing on a computer and network that you own and maintain, Esealpha?

Wow. I'm not quite sure how I am supposed to phrase this b/c clearly you are not understanding me. When I update, my WORKSPACE is overwritten with the default WORKSPACE. As in, my WORKSPACE is no longer there. There are no errors. My WORKSPACE IS GONE.
What types of Creative Cloud Memberships are there? I have an individual membership for all apps. Is that what you are looking for?

I am sorry, Esealpha, it is still unclear what you are referring to when you are mentioning your workspace. Is this in relation to the preferences for the programs you are using?
