Do you have a perpetual license or do you have a subscription?

Are you downloading using your original installation disc or download file?

Try the offline activation as described as Solution 2 in the linked document.

But be aware: if you have reached your activation limit and you don't have any chance to deactivate an older installation you're out of luck. Adobe has stopped the support of CS 6 products and the resetting of the actiovation counter isn't possible anymore.

if you're trying to download cs6, use your https://account.adobe.com to register, if that's not already been done, and then download.

Legacy Creative Suite used serial numbers to activate.

Creative Cloud subscriptions use your Adobe log-in ID and password.
