I recently purchased a M2 Macbook Air from apple, but am trying to transfer Lightroom 4 from my old 2010 Macbook Pro and the serial number is not being recognized. The Adobe Virtual Assitant suggested my Lightroom may be an "end of life product" and my no longer be supported by Adobe and/or Apple. Is there anything I can do about this? Or get credit towards a newer lightroom that would be compatible with my M2 Macbook?

I have tried deactivating the lightroom on my old device but unfortunately the "help" button does not offer a option to "deactivate" (see attached photo)

That's because the old Lightroom (versions 1-5, pre-Classic) did not include activation until version 6.0 so there is nothing to de-activate on version 4 (2012).
Nevertheless, as @Nancy OShea says, time to subscribe to one of the Cloud Photography Plans on your M2.

Note that there are now two versions of Lightroom: Lightroom (Cloud) and Lightroom Classic (catalog-based).
The catalog-based Lightroom 4 you're used to is now known as Lightroom Classic.

Creative Cloud Photography Plan (approx $10/month for 12 months). Includes the following:
