Purchased and downloaded LR5 for PC from Amazon. Get the error message: "A problem occurred while extracting some files. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder" when extracting installation files. There is more than enough space and the destination folder is the desktop. THis happens both on my Surface (Windows 8.1) and Dell (windows 7). What is wrong?
that's an incomplete download. that file size should be ~871.9mb ~ 892825b
also, that's a self-extracting file. so you just click (or double click) the exe. do not manually extract.
another option for you if you have trouble with that file:

what files (name and extension) did you downloaded and what are their sizes?

The file is Lightroom_5_LS11.exe, 829765kb. I have downloaded it twice and each fails at a different point when extracting. I tried Universal Extractor and that fails at the same point so I am coming to the conclusion each copy of the downloaded files is corrupted. One file I used a wifi connection to an AP and the other a 3G mobile connection. I'm going to try again unless anybody else has any ideas.

the most common problem is caused by failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
failure to obtain that cookie results in an error page being displayed after clicking a link on prodesigntools.com or initiates the download of an incorrect (eg, current) version.

I certainly am and the Adobe Extracting window is displayed where you can select the destination directory. One of the downloaded file always fails after 30% of the files is extracted. I have tried a) deleting all file from Temp folders b) running from a cmd window in Administrator mode c) moving the exe file to the root directory on c: drive and then launching d) Using Universal Extractor instead. All these suggestions I have found on various forums but the result always the same. One person on one of the forums said after downloading twice and failing, he hardwired his PC to the AP (I assume using an Ethernet cable). That download worked so that is the route I'm taking next. Never had this problem with any downloaded s/w. I notice other people have had similar problems with other Adobe products. Are their download file not stuck together properly? Regards

Only just received all your response. Thanks for your suggestions. I will try it. My problem is that I am abroad at the moment with only a 3G connection so I have find somebody willing to let me use their AP. Let you know the outcome.

Stable connection did the trick. It worked perfectly. Now all I have to do now is improve my terrible photos!
