Adobe needs a good kicking up the bum for this. I have subscriptions with other services and nothing comes close to hostility that they give when you want to cancel.

You obviously haven't tried cancelling a cell phone on an annual contract. It's an annual contract  !! That means you promise to pay for the year. Some people seem to think they can break that promise and Adobe should let them walk away. I don't think that would be right.

There are quite a lot of things wrong with that comparison.

1st. I don't use phone contracts for this reason.

2nd. Phone contracts are often tied to a contract phone. Monthly payments are made to pay off this phone. Underneath the contract there is effectively a loan with an interest rate. Once the initial term is over, the agreement turns into a 30-day rolling contract.

3rd. Credit checks are done when you sign up to a phone contract for obvious reasons.

In comparison to Adobe, the entire reason they use such draconian legalese is to scare people like you from cancelling the subscription. And to be fair to them, I think it's working. Just because a big bad wolf of a company says something is legal does not necessarily mean it is. Good example: "warranty void" stickers are not legally binding where I live.

When you  buy a subscription, and you "click to agree" that you have read the terms, you really DO need to read the terms before making the purchase Legal subscription terms | Adobe
