Cannot connect to Creative Cloud servers

I am trying to install Creative Cloud, I have had the installer stuck on 'Trying to connect to the server' for 9 hours overnight and it has made no progress on the download whatsoever.

Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it continues to fail try using a different browser.

This didn't help at all. I don't see what connection there is between my browser and the CreativeCouldSet-Up.exe which is what is having the problem.
