Cannot download Creative Cloud programs behind an authenticating proxy

Feb 23, 2013 Feb 23, 2013

Where can I find the proxy settings for the Creative Cloud Download Manager? My dormitory requires me to sign into an HTTPS proxy to access the internet, but the Download Manager gives me a 'no internet connection' message every time. Is it really unable to work behind a proxy? How do I change the proxy settings for the Adobe Download Manager?

If the proxy information is entered then I would recommend first stepping back and reviewing Sign in or activation errors | CS6, CS5.5 Subscriptions, CS6 Perpetual - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-network-issues.html.  This list several common causes which can lead to the Adobe Application Manager to not being able to access the Internet.

In specific the Adobe Application Manager is trying to access the following servers and ports:

  • ccmdls.adobe.com:443
  • ims-na1.adobelog

Both the Adobe Application Manager and the Adobe Download Assistant should work with a proxy server.  Which operating system are you using?  Where are you inputing the proxy configuration information?  Finally have you been in contact with your educational institutions I.T. department?

Herein lies the problem: there is no apparent place in the download manager's settings to input the proxy's location, port, and authentication information. Is it supposed to auto-detect it?

I am using Windows 8 Professional.

I have already talked to IT, and they said Adobe products have full functionality on the network, excepting Chat Support and the forums. They blamed the download manager's dearth of proxy preferences.

It should be inheriting the settings foy your operating system.  Is your proxy information entered into Internet Options control panel?  It should be under the Connections tab and then selecting the LAN settings option.

It's definitely not. If I'm not mistaken, there is no system-wide proxy setting for Windows.

That would be why the Adobe Download Assistant is not seeing your proxy settings.  The control panel referenced in message #3 is where the system wide proxy settings configuration is entered.  The Adobe Download Assistant and the Adobe Application Manager will utilize these settings.

I learned something new, haha. However, the proxy settings have been there all along and the problem persists.

I am at a religious school, behind a draconian Internet filter. What is the IP address that the application manager retrieves program files from? Perhaps it is blocked.

Hi Jeff,

i'm still searching for a solution to get a internet connection with the Creative Cloud App in combination with an Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) ??

It seems to be that other companies have the same problem ( http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1251694 ) which never have fixed.
