I purchased a new iMac and used the migration assistant to migrate everything from another iMac and now I cannot open dreamweaver anymore. I just get a blank error box.
Both iMacs are intel based and are running 10.2.7 (latest OS) and I never had any issues with dreamweaver on the other computer.
Since I can't afford the $1000 to upgrade my CS3 Design Premium, I need to get this working. I can open all other CS3 apps with no problems, Photoshop, InDesign, Flash.. but Dreamweaver has the error box popup.
I tried calling but Adobe doesn't provide support for their products after a new product version is released, according to Rajish the customer service rep.
I tried installing from the disk too, but that didn't work either, it gives me an error that says "Required resources are missing" and then I have to click the Quit button.
So I'm stuck, I can't use Dreamweaver unless I can somehow re-install it, or figure out what didn't migrate properly. Any ideas?
*stressed out... and chocolate is not helping....

Cyberious are you using 10.7.2 or 10.2.7? Most likely it is an issue with using the Migration Assistant. For complicated programs like Adobe products it is best to do a fresh install instead of migrating the product over. Users who use the Migration Assistant often face issues such as yours.
You have a couple different options:
The first and easiest would be to format and reinstall the OS on your new Mac. Then run the Migration Assistant again this time only bringing over your documents and settings. You will then want to reinstall the software from your installation media.
Second you can try running the uninstaller located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers. After this is done you will want to run the CS5 Cleaner tool. For details regarding how to use and obtain the cleaner tool I would recommend reviewing CS5 Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html. You can then again install from the installation media.
I honestly would recommend going with option 1. In the over decade and half I have been doing support some of the worst issues have come from the use of Migration Assistants/EZ Setup solutions. I have seen people literarily spend hours trying to resolve their difficulties.

OH!! I'm so sorry! I'm using 10.7.3 (I don't know why I typed that, habit I guess!) - it's installed on both iMacs, so I went from pretty much the same setup to this one, same setup, but larger monitor..
I just bought this mac so it's a new install already (only 3 days).

I'm also afraid to uninstall anything, I don't trust the disc now since it's having problems already. If I uninstall CS3 then I would lose everything - my other apps and my photoshop settings, gradients, patterns, etc. that I've worked on for the last 3 years. It would be like starting all over with a blank slate, and very time consuming. That's why I was hoping to find out more about what might be causing the problem, maybe some files didn't migrate over or something. I don't know why it's just Dreamweaver though, that's strange. At this point I can work on the other CS3 apps with no problems at all so I'd hate to end up with nothing, I just can't afford to lose it all. After buying a new iMac, I'm strapped for a while now, and can't afford to upgrade to CS5 and if the disc doesn't work after the Uninstall, I'd be in big trouble.

Cyberious you will need to reinstall to resolve your difficulties. You can try copying the contents of the optical media to your hard disk first. If you receive no disc errors then your media should work fine for a reinstallation.

OK, I haven't tried running the Uninstaller yet, I just want to make sure that I can uninstall only Dreamweaver and not the other adobe apps first before I run it. Is that possible? Otherwise if something goes wrong I'd need to migrate everything from my other computer all over again, and just do without Dreamweaver.

Cyberious the key thing is the migration caused your difficulties originally. If you do utilize the Migration Assistant again please make sure and only copy over your documents and settings and then reinstall the software from your installation media.
Otherwise if you are wishing to proceed with the second option it will be necessary to remove all of the Adobe Creative Software from your new computer and then reinstall again. There is likely numerous files which were damage or not properly transferred when utilizing the Migration Assistant. The second option is attempting to remove the Adobe software but still allow you to keep the other files on your computer. Once the Adobe Software is removed you would then reinstall from the installation media again.

OK, so you're saying that the error message I mentioned, "Required resources are missing" is only happening because I need to uninstall the files first?

No you either having missing or damaged components. Even the applications which are currently functioning maybe damaged as well. You just may not have noticed as the functions you have utilized so far seem to be working.

Looks like I have even bigger problems than I expected. The Uninstaller doesn't work either. Same error message appears: "Required resources are missing" with the Quit button. So I can't even Uninstall what's already on my hard drive. Now I don't know what to do!

RE-instal the software using the MEDIA not the Migration Assistance.

Sorry , I posted before I completed ...
Before you re-install , uninstall all the other Adobe product and run the cleaner tool , http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

That is what I'm trying to do, but for some reason I'm not allowed to. I tried to Uninstall. I'm getting an error message (see above) that's preventing me from using the Uninstaller. I don't know what else to do now. If I can't uninstall Adobe, I can't run the CS3 Cleaner Tool, and can't try installing again from my disc...

Cyberious I would recommend you proceed with option one at this point. Format and reinstall your operating system, utilize the migration assistant to only move over your documents and settings, reinstall CS3 from your disc.
