hi all,

I wondered if there is any body running windows professional 64 bit who has managed to install and use cc 2017?

I have been unable to install any of the applications. The error message says your windows needs updating.

I have all the latest updates for win 7 professional 64 bit. I've had microsoft support engineers doing a remote logins on my machines to check they are up to date and they have no idea why the Adobe installer thinks my windows needs updating.

I have tried on both my machines and the same problem.

Somebody I work with is also running the same operating system and version and they also have the same issue. unable to install any of the 2017 apps.

Adobe say it is compatible with windows 7 service pack 1. So for in our experience 3 out of 3 machines have found it incompatible

Lightroom CC requires Windows 10:

  • Windows 10 (64-bit) Version 1511 or later

Source: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC system requirements

Lightroom CC Classic, and, apparently, the CC suite, can (still) run on Windows 7.

I "upgraded" to Windows 10 only for running Lightroom. The new search ("Cortana") doesn't even find some programs when you type the full name, but will still offer loads of "web results" and even bring up addresses of shops somewhere, but not the application that is sitting right there in the start menu. This is a metaphor of everything that is wrong with Microsoft, they keep pushing new crap when their old crap is half-baked. If they can't even get a simple search right, then why do they bother adding new features?

So I guess I'll stop torturing myself and go back to Windows 7, I can always use Lightroom CC Classic. And if that stops working, then I will take 35mm film photos. And if Adobe don't care then be it.

Jesus H Krusty the Clown we're screwed.

What are the odds Microsoft's next-era, post-Windows10, operating system GUI is ever going to look any more evolved than (think monkeys poking buttons) on a workstation again?

Somehow class action law suits need to be as easy as rolling your eyes.

Seriously,

That's all it's about. Zero accountability. If they keep "INNOVATING", they can get away with all kinds of shabbiness; low quality. They free themselves of needing to fix bugs in previous versions by innovating and innovating and not worrying about perfecting the implementation. Why? Because they bedazzle the public and realize there is such a great deficit of legal help out there who are able to argue software negligence in face of legal rights we sign away.

This should not forgive bug fixes. If something like Win8-10 is a new direction for phones then there should be two product lines. I mean what the hell. How soon ARE the powers planning to DEW (in) all our space devouring desktops in?

Complete lie from lover of beta-cutting-edge software [like spying Windows 10]. I use latest Photoshop 2017 version on Windows 7 x64 sp1 + all updates. Not only Photoshop, but Illustrator and Premiere also. So, do not listen, Windows 7 is 100% compatible with latest Adobe products.

ps Just for your info: published from AMD Ryzen rig, which is also *not incompatible* with Windows 7, so i am quite incompatible person.

do not attempt to install any adobe cc 2017 software if you are using windows 7 64 bit sp1!!!!

Adobe say it is compatible. It is not. It has caused serious problems on our machines and same for the designers and animators we work with.

We have had microsoft and adobe engineers logging on remotely and could not resolve any of the issues after 6 days of trying.

Even older versions of CC will not work anymore. We are having to go back to our 6 year old perpetual license software cs 5 or cs 6.

The Creative Cloud Cleaner tool will not run any more.

If you attempt to install adobe cc 2017 on a windows pc running 64 bit professional sp1, you may find that the machine will no longer run any creative cloud software. Even going system restore to go back to an earlier point in time cannot get around this

thanks for replies folks.

According to the Adobe installer,  "Error :api-ms-win-crt-runtime-1-1-0.dll is missing"

I tried to install the CRT runtime again but Windows gives an error message saying it is already installed and can't be installed twice.

I don't know if there is a Service Pack 2 as all the win 7 updates come rolled into 1 big bundle now.

I've installed all the windows updates I can and microsoft have done what they could via remote login.

I'll try contacting Adobe.

Just curious if there is anybody running windows 7 who has managed to install After Effects 2017?

I am on Win10, but isn't there a service pack 2 for Win7?
