I launched Muse and it says an update is available. I was a little surprised by this so I launched the CC manager and sure enough, itsays Muse is "Up to date". CC identifies available updates for PS and Bridge, so something is working. Why can't I update Muse through CC?

Muse and some other apps have been using a different kind of programming language and installation procedure, that is not yet fully compliant with CC (it's based on AIR). So the Muse app can't be checked correctly in the CC panel. The same goes for Reflow, but for a different reason (it's legally still a "Preview" with iterations, no real "versions"). I heard Adobe is working on it to iron these diffrences out of the CC installation and tracking techniques, but it's not fully ready yet.

That's disapoointing. I guess this is what bothers me about the whole change to CC - users have been forced into the model before Adobe could be bothered to implement it properly. I've had a number of niggling issues with it, it just doesn't seem quite fully baked.

No users are of have been forced, no puppies were harmed, and it takes a loooong time before such a drastic move is working alright – will it ever be perfect ? So why not let users take a dive into the pool while they're still fixing the diving board ? The disadvantage isn't too problematic.

Not forced? I was under the impression that the only way to get these apps now was through CC, though perhaps I was mistaken. Regardless, I don't feel that expressing disappointment in a flaw in a for-fee product is unreasonable. And if I paid for a pool and the diving board was still broken, yes I'd say someting about that too.I don't think that makes me a bad person. If we're not allowed to point out flaws it's unlikely those flaws will ever get fixed.

You're right about Muse, not being offered in any other way than a subscription. But I responded to your worry "about the whole change to CC", whicht is not a forced move for everyone. There are already many discussions about that topic on this forum, so let's not start another one in this more technical area of installing and updating CC.
You asked "Why can't I update Muse through CC?" and I pointed out some explanations, which I've understood of what's happening behind the screens. To some degree, I think these explanations can serve as a temporarily excuse for the current flaws. But you're absolutely right: these flaws and bugs need to be tackled. I totally agree with your annoyance !
There's a brand new update for the CC Desktop Panel that addresses again several issues (probably not all), but I've heard more improvements are still on the way. Keep giving feedback, it helps, really !
