CC Icon at top of my macbook disappeared!

Nov 19, 2014 Nov 19, 2014

No matter what I do I can't get it back.  I've tried a cc cleaner.  Great, now that erased photoshop CC and Bridge CC.  There is no other way to reinstall CC or photoshop or bridge.  Nor can I update Lightroom 5.  Certainly there must be a workaround.  I've tried EVERYTHING.  I tried the adobe connect to the Adobe help desk and that connection was lost, so so much for that.  HELP???

Could you please check the graphics in that answer?  Only the first of the screen shots appear.

Thanks,

Jim Patterson

Nope, this doesn't work.  I get that CC icon at the top of my screen, in grey, and it disappears right away.  So I have CC but can't use it.  I swear, why does Adobe make everything so complicated?  CERTAINLY there must be a work around?

JGPatterson I would recommend utilizing the steps listed in Error "Failed to Install" Creative Cloud Desktop application - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/failed-install-creative-cloud-desktop.html to reinstall the Creative Cloud Desktop application.

I had an adobe tech look at my laptop from a distance and he could not figure out why the icon would go on and off at the top of the screen.  He advised setting up a new user account and said there is a way to migrate my data from my old user account with the problem and the new account.  Does anybody know?  I don't think I'd use migration assistant.

None of those suggestions work.  The suggestion that I'd have to start over again is the wrong answer.  CC is the only thing that doesn't work on my macbook pro with yosemite.  Frankly, it's an over-complicated way to provide updates.  Why not just from the program?  I swear, leave it to Adobe to over complicate things.  I just want the #$%#$ to work.  Telling me to do the same thing over and over again isn't a solution, nor is it pointing to Yosemite.  I can't be the only Mac user with Yosemite that is having this issue.

I am sorry that you are facing this much difficulties.

Were you tried to enable root account on your mac and tried?

if not please follow the steps mentioned on below link and enable root account, restart the computer and log in to root and checkonce.

Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X - Apple Support

(The step is applicable for yosemite too)

Yes the tech that took over my computer screen did that root account thing and it worked there.  So... can I keep that and update programs through the root account?  Or do I delete the root account?  I have no idea how to delete the root account either.  It just doesn't work in my main administrator account.  The adobe tech guy spent over an hour and a half working on my computer and couldn't get it to run.  believe me, there's little I've tried.  I just don't want to go through the SUPREME HASSLE of establishing a new account and even then not have it work.

JGPatterson

If the products are working from root account then it might be due to some permission issues.

You can install and update Applications from root account, Once it installed you can log in to back to your normal accounts and  Oaccess the products from Finder > Applications

You may refer above link which I have provided to disable or enable root account.

This is how you fix it.

Type Creative Cloud into your Spotlight. When it finds the application just launch it. And the little icon will reappear in the top of your screen.

Launching CC doesn't work - unhilariously my CC folder only has an unistall CC option. Going into photoshop and press update doesn't work. Only thing that works is waiting a month until CC decides to check I'm still a subscriber, which I am. For all my sins. Hey adobe, how about just a switch that you can press to turn an icon on or off?
