Hi everyone,
After I upgraded to macOS Sierra, some of my Adobe Software started crashing. Adobe Acrobat XI opens but stops unexpectedly after a few seconds. But most notably, Illustrator doesn't start at all. I get the Configuration Error message (Error 1) and it suggests uninstalling and reinstalling the software (which doesn't help).
I've tried changing the permissions for the SLStore and Adobe PCD folders. And indeed, the permissions for Adobe PCD were set to read only for the admin.
Sadly, changing the permissions didn't help. I get the same error message. Also, once I reinstall the software, the permissions change back to read only.
This happened right after upgrading to macOS Sierra. I have no backup so downgrading to El Capitan is not an option.
Please help, the standard workaround didn't work for me, and I need Illustrator to survive.
(I use a Macbook Pro; Retina Display 13; late 2015; Processor 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5; Memory 8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3)
Elkoban if you create a new Administrator account do you face the same error? You can find details on how to set up a new Administrator account at Install or run Adobe applications in new user account | Mac OS X .

Update; I just found out that Illustrator works fine on the guest account. The configuration error happens only on my user account...
Any ideas?

Jeff, thanks for your reply. Yes, I set up a new account and since then everything works perfectly. The only inconvenience was that I had to migrate all files to the new account. But it feels like a completely new MacBook since then, which is delightful.

So perhaps a total clean install of macOS and all applications is the way to go?!!!

I believe the apps wouldn't have these issues when installing on a new, clean system. But for me, it was enough to just create a new account within my MacBook.
The application itself was fine, as was the OS, but something was messed up in the user libraries (which are empty on a new account).

Makes complete sense.
