CS 5.5 DP - Illustrator, Flash & Fireworks Won't Install - Pls Help

I am about 20 hours in to trying to get this to work, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm installing CS 5.5 DP  on Windows 7 - 64 bit.

I would post my install log but it is 10 MB long.  But I get this message at the end of the install process:  0 fatal error(s), 1890 error(s), 8 warning(s).

Most of the errors are the following:

DW063: Error rolling back command ARKMoveFileCommand(Seq 225)    followed by a DF023 error for the particular software.  For example for Flash, it shows:

DF023: Unable to delete file copy at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash CS5.5\Common\Configuration\ActionScript 3.0\commons-logging-LICENSE.txt" Error 3 The system cannot find the path specified.(Seq 224).

I also get the following errors:

ERROR: Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomAction1, location: C:\Users\Family\AppData\Local\Temp\InstallAX.exe, command: -install activex -msi

ERROR: Install MSI payload failed with error: 1603 - Fatal error during installation.

MSI Error message: Error 1722.There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Exit Code 6 - Silent Workflow completed with errors.

I've tried all the posted troubleshooting topics I could find on these topics.  I've also tried uninstalling everything Adobe (including with the CS cleaner tool) and then reinstalling everything.  But I get the same error.

I'd appreciate anyone's (and everyone's) help with this.  Also, please let me know if any additional information would be helpful.

Is there enough temporary disk space/ no permissions issue on your temp folder? That would also include security tools and virus scanners blocking it. also did you attempt to repair the Windows installer by downloading the pertinent package from Microsoft/ running Windows update? Should not be necessary, but you never know. With regards to the log, you can create a lighter one by completely dleting the old one. Consecutive installs append the info to existing logs. When no log exists, a new one will be created...

Thanks for your reply.

I don't have temp disk space issues.  And I'm pretty certain I took care of the permissions issue in the temp folder as well. I followed the instructions in the Error 1721[1722] topic, and I turned my UAC off.

I actually deleted my virus program and the only thing that should be running is Windows Firewall which is not on the highest setting.  Could that be blocking something anyway?

I tried the sfc/ scannow command and it told me nothing was wrong with my installer so I did not download a new Installer package.

I'll delete the log file and try to generate a new one which I will post assuming it is still not huge 🙂

Samo0218 as an alternative to posting your installation log I would recommend running the Adobe Support Advisor.  It will automatically review your installation log and attempt to locate a solution.

Also if you wish to review the installation log yourself you can follow the steps listed in Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs.  This document contains the exact steps which I would perform to identify the difficulties you are having with your installation.

Jeff,

I've tried both - support advisor and troubleshooting the log myself - to no avail.

I've posted some of the error messages in my first post.  And I tried all the troubleshooting steps located in any adobe help topic I could find on those errors.  But again no luck.

I'm almost at a point where I think the only thing that might do it is to start from a fresh install of windows 7.  (but what if that doesn't work either )

Unless you have hardware issues a fresh install of Windows 7 would certainly resolve most issues.  If you go into the Adobe Support Advisor there is an option to package for support.  Can you please respond to this thread with the token number it provides to you.  This will allow me to take a quick look at your log to try to determiune what might be causing your difficulties.

Navigate to the log files in one of the following folders:

• Windows 32 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\

• Windows 64 bit (XP, Vista, 7): \Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers

• Mac OS: /Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/

The log filename includes the product name and install date, followed by ".log.gz." The extension .gz indicates a compressed format.

You can open the .gz file using winzip or winrar and then open the text file in it with the"wordpad" ,

copy the content and upload it on pastebin.com , and send us the link on the forums or PM

Looking at your install log it looks like you have a few error messages.  They are as follows:

DW063 refers to having insufficient permissions.  In specific I saw a number of errors trying to create directories or write files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.

DF037 is also related to permissions as the installer was unable to delete directories in this case.

You may want to create a new local administrator account and try the installation from within that account.  I would also suggested reviewing Install log "Exit 6" or "Exit 7" read, write system file errors | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5 for additional guidence for dealing with permission issues.

I've already tried creating a new admin account.  I 've also read the Exit 6 and Exit 7 error codes and tried everything there - all to no avail.

Please follow the below mentioned steps in proper sequence:-

1) Uninstall the cs5.5 and run the Cleaner tool for cs5.5

2) Unistall the flash player from control panel

3) Remove the google desktop: - from the control panel>add and remove programs

4) Then Follow the kb article: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408625.html

5) Re-install the cs5.5 and then check

Samo0218 it sounds like you have completed solution 1 in http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/835/cpsid_83574.html.  I would recommend proceeding with Solution 2 which asks that you directly adjust the permissions.

Manish_1988's suggestions are good as well but may not solve for your inability to write to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe.

The problem is I've got hundreds of those errors.  Do I need to go to every single folder and verify permissions?  Is there a way to change them all to what it should be?

If you have already tried a new administrator account then no there is really no other way to solve your permission issue.  You can go to the parents folder though, C://Program Files/Adobe and choose the option for all child objects to inherit permissions.

You could also try enabling the default administrator account.  There is a chance that's it's permissions may have not have been compromised.  There is information on how to do this located at http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vist....

I tried installing with the default admin account - failed.

I also noticed that i can not print to pdf.  I went through some of the troubleshooting pages for that and it seems my computer won't allow me to add a pdf printer.  Hmmm - wonder if the problems are related?  It seems it has something to do with the permissions settings but I can't seem to figure out what specifically to do about it.

Did you have problems creating a PDF printer even in a new or default admin account?  If so then it is also probably permission related and it is affecting your entire administrator group.  The steps provided will allow you to solve for these but you may have quite a few permissions to adjust.

Alternately a simpler option might be to back up your documents and settings and reinstall Windows.  It will depend on what back up solutions you use on how hassle free a reinstall would be.  I would advise if you do follow this route that you reinstall your applications as opposed to restoring them from a backup.
