Question

CS5.5 installation from disc, error(20), Windows 8.1

I am trying to install CS 5.5 from the installation disc on my new laptop (running Windows 8.1) but I keep getting the following error message: "The Setup encountered an error(20) during install. Please restart the machine and try again."

Restarting the machine multiple times has had no effect. Other forum discussions indicate that error(20) usually means that the downloaded files were not downloaded or extracted properly, but this is directly from the CD (which I successfully used on my old computer), so I don't know what the deal is.

Please help? Thanks!

Sorry to rehash the issue...

Running Windows 10 on a PC

I've done this twice...

Downloaded the two Illustrator files from CS5.5 site and moved to C:/Users/

extracted files and tried to run the Set-up file

I've checked the log and its an error 20 (Exit Code: 20 - install source path does not exist.)

What should I be doing differently?

Thanks!

Had also the error (20) as I tried to Install Creative Suite CS5.5 on a newly set-up Windows 10 notebook.

The Installation files were copied from DVD to my NAS, which was connected via cable network to the new PC. Wasn't probably not good enough ;-( The CCleaner didn't help. On epost gave me the hint with possible uncompress-errors.

So (as my last hope for quick fix) copied all files to a local drive, started the installation from there and *boom* it worked perfectly.

Had the same error (20) and just like the last post, I was installing from a NAS box.

I copied the installer over to my HDD and it ran first time, with no errors.

Thanks for posting z-works saved me a heap of trouble.

Hello,

sometimes - for whatever reasons - CC doesn't "want" to work. In this case you should CC completely delete and reinstall by help of Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool. (A try to uninstall by own resources is not enough!) http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html and follow the prescribed sequence of operations. Sometimes the "opm.db file" is the culprit. In this case you should delete it.

So far, so good –I also often gave this advice. This approach only allows to look at the symptoms of this malfunction. Therefore I started a thread “What's up with "Downloading, Installing, Setting Up"?” I asked for a improvement of the product, so it is not necessary to use Cleaner Tool. Preran a member of Adobe’s staff promised "many improvements". Here is the link: https://forums.adobe.com/message/6408998

In order to accelerate the process I therefore call upon you to support my efforts. Most successful could be to click a „like“ in Prerans answer (see consecutive number 11)

Thanks,

Hans-Günter

I used the digital download online for installation and that worked like a charm. Thanks for the help!

Please check the compatibility of CS5.5 & windows 8,

You can try to download it from this page :

https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install.html

Illustrator CC - Installation Error EX20

EX20 in general means that it is not extracting properly, this issue could be due to corrupted download file or compatibily.

run the cleaner and retry installing, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

if you see the same error, download the installation files.

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.
