I'm running CS6 on 64 bit laptop. Do I need the 32 bit version also, or can I unintstall that part?
Hi,
When you install any Adobe application that has 64-bit support, it automatically creates two entries in the programs menu, for both 32 and 64-bit options. However, the program is installed only once. It’s just that you have an option to run it either as a 32-bit application or as a 64-bit application.
As your system is 64-bit compatible, you can click the corresponding option to access the applications.

What software? Did it install both 32-bit and 64-bit versions?
Creative Cloud will usually just install either the 32-bit or 64-bit (if available) version.

I have the education version of CS6 Design and Web Premium on a CD. Running it on Windows 7. My processor has 32 as well as 64 bit, so the software installed both versions. Pretty sure I only need the 64 bit version, but want to check first. Thanks, for asking. Forums are new to me, need to learn how to ask proper questions!

I don't think this information is accurate.
I am installing CS6 via the Creative Cloud Adobe Application Manager right now, and it has put Photoshop PS6 folders in Program Files *AND* Program Files (x86). The 32-bit folder is 445MB and the 64-bit folder is 513MB, so I think there are two full versions of the software.
Looks like it's doing the same with Illustrator, Bridge, etc.
Costs a nontrivial amount of space on my laptop SSD. No options to only install 64-bit version via the app manager.
Is there a fix for this?

There is no options to do this within the Adobe Application Manager at the moment. You may be able to customize a trial install and then license with the Creative Cloud license. I would recommend inquiring in the Photoshop General Discussion forum - http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/general on the possibility of installing Photoshop only in 64-bit mode. I believe there are still some plug-ins and features only available in the 32-bit version of Photoshop.
