Do I need to leave my macbook powered on while installing adobe creative suite.

Not sure if it would be good for my mac if I left it on all night but if i turn it off will it stop the installation process?

yes.  leave it on and not sleeping if you have a slow internet connection.

I can't remember the last time I switched a computer off.

I leave them on 24/7 to do their own thing and sleep when they want to.

And it won't hurt it either. In fact, some people argue that we should leave our computers on all the time. They say that heating up, cooling down, heating up, cooling down, etc. over and over puts undue stress on the internal components and that leaving them powered on all the time will make them last longer.
