Do me a pleasure...

..., tell me what the perverse person who is in charge of the development of the CC desktop app (Windows) is smoking or drinking when at work, so that I can avoid to inadvertently absorb the same stuff.

Until now, each time the CC Desktop app was updated, the installation always failed and I always had to uninstall the previous version (not always possible), cleanup everything manually and then do a full reinstall. I didn't think that things could become worse. My mistake.

Today, when starting Windows, I got a notification about CC Desktop being updated. I clicked on the icon, nothing happened. I tried to launch the existing version, nothing happened. I observed that the installation process was active in memory, so I waited a while. Nothing happened. After almost half an hour, I tried again to launch CC Desktop by double-clicking its icon in my launcher and this time, the system told me that the program was no longer there. Indeed, C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud was totally empty. CC Desktop totally wiped out. Period. So once again, I had to do a full reinstall.

Installing or updating an application is a basic task for a developer and there should be no major problem with this. The CC Desktop installer is a failure, has always been so and nobody seems to care. Please stop this madness....

Hi,

I posted the above message almost 3 years ago and I'm still stressing when I launch the CC Desktop app because I'm wondering which kind of problem will again keep me busy for a while instead of doing actual work. Currently, I have 2 problems. The first is an old one and the other is new since a few weeks and has been observed by other users as well.

1. When I launch CC Desktop, if the launch succeeds, most of the time I get a message in the Assets panel telling me that an update is pending. This update systematically fails at 90% with error code 184 which means, guess what, that the update has failed. I never found any way to fix this and the usual, robotized fix procedures usually coming from Adobe are useless.

2. Very often, since a few weeks, when I launch CC Desktop, I get the following message "Creative Cloud seems to be taking longer... bla bla bla". The spinning wheel never stops spinning, clicking on the "here" button in "relaunch Creative Cloud by clicking here..." has no effect, restarting the computer has no effect either as well as applying the various recommendations supposed to fix the problem.

If Adobe think that I can spend time uninstalling, re-installing their tools, cleaning up my disk by deleting their buggy executables, relaunching my system, etc.  just to be able to use their apps normally each time they have something to update, they're wrong. CC Desktop has always been a cause of problems for me and many others since years. It's high time to handle this case seriously instead of trying to make us believe that uninstalling, re-installing programs and relaunching a system is a cure for buggy code.
