Correct answer kglad

I did as advised and uninstalled Photoshop CC, Bridge CC, lightroom CC, cc desktop app.

Ran the cleaning tool.

Reinstalled cc desktop app.

Could reinstall Lightroom CC

Was unable to reinstall Photoshop CC and Bridge CC: got the same Fatal error message.

see if you have an adobeTemp folder and check its permissions.

The Adobetemp folder is a hidden file.  You must enable viewing of hidden files in Windows Explorer in the "View" tab (Windows 10)

Uninstalling and reinstalling did not help.

I solved this problem before seeing the suggestion to change permission of "AdobeTemp".

I simply deleted the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2017" before running the update and it worked.

Hope this helps.

quit your cc desktop app.

right click the cc desktop exe>click 'run as administrator'.

update your programs.

Thanks for the quick answer.

But it doesn’t solve the problem.

I get the same error message and more empty adobeTemp\ETR... files are installed.

Paul.

uninstall everything cc including the cc desktop app.

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
