Question

Downloading previously purchased CS5

  Hi all,

I have paid for a subscription to CS5 and had it on my mac previously. I have since had to wipe the computer to speed it up and I now need to redownload all of the programs I had on it before the wipe, including the Creative Suite. I am unable to find the place to redownload the apps on Adobe's site without being redirected to the page where it encourages me to purchase The Cloud version of the CS.

I got it to let me install CS 5.5, (the furthest I've  gotten yet) but then when I attempted to use my serial number, it said it was invalid.

@mikew, Error: "The serial number is not valid for this product" | Adobe Creative Suite

@sergP, Download Adobe CS5 Free Trials – All Direct Links without Akamai | ProDesignTools

    @janets:

start at the top and work your way down applying applicable fixes until your problem is resolved.

    if cc (win):  https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-application-failed.html

    if, your error is:

"Installer failed to initialize. File not found." or "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to missing files."

first, rename OOBE Folder to OOBE.old.

    to find OOBE:

64 bit win OS: Program Files x86\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE

32 bit win OS: Program Files \Common Files\Adobe\OOBE

    mac os: HD>library>application support>adobe>caps

    mac os: USER>library>application support>adobe>OOB

if that fails or isn't the exact error you see, uninstall, clean (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html) and reinstall.

if you're using a dvd to install:

copy the disc contents to a desktop directory and install from that directory.

    if you're using a mac:

    1. Try to Create a new user account in Mac with Administrator Priviledges.

    2. Login to the New user, Navigate to Mac HD> Application> Utilities> Adobe Installer folder, Locate products like Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash, Adobe Air and un-install them

    3. Navigate to User Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.

    4. Navigate to Mac HD> Library> Application Support> Adobe and move Adobe to Trash.

    5. Start the installation again.

if everything applicable above fails, check your installation logs:

I do not have Program Files\x86\Common Files\Adobe. I do not have anything to uninstall. The installer fails to initialize and doesn't get far enough to install any files. I have downloaded CS6 Master collection 3 times without any errors.

The files download to a 7Z archive file Mastercollection_CS6_LS16. In that folder there are 2 folders Adobe CS6 and Fonts. In the Adobe CS6 Folder there is a file Set-up.exe. When I open that I get a message asking me to run the brogram or cancel. When I run I immediately get the Installer fails to initialize error.

@janet:  download both the 7z and corresponding exe

put both in the same folder and double click the exe.

Thanks for the reply. So if I have Creative Cloud also downloaded on my computer, will uninstalling it and performing the "clean" help me install CS 5.5?

    Downloadable installation files available:

Download and installation help for Adobe links

Download and installation help for Prodesigntools links are listed on most linked pages.  They are critical; especially steps 1, 2 and 3.  If you click a link that does not have those steps listed, open a second window using the Lightroom 3 link to see those 'Important Instructions'.

I clicked on the link for CS 5.5 and have tried it many times. The issue now, is that the the program won't INSTALL, even though it is downloaded. I can't find any help on CS 5.5, everything redirects me to CC.
