MX is ancient software, it hasn't been sold or supported for many years. I'm not sure if Adobe themselves ever truly supported it at all, to be honest, it's the last version before the acquisition.

What do you mean by "died" exactly?
Any error messages?
Have you had any recent OS updates lately?
Do you still have the original media?

If you're just having an activation issue when installing, you could try this...

Error, "Unable to Activate" in Macromedia legacy products

After a reboot DreamWeaver did not start up again. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with the Setup.exe. It goes as far as the Startup screen that showqs among other stuff my name and the serial number. But there it locks. Won't go any further

Try clearing the program cache (replace any instance of "Adobe" with "Macromedia" in these instructions)

Deleting a corrupted cache file

You might be able to try restoring the preferences (again, look for Macromedia versions of the folders instead of Adobe)...

Restore preferences in Dreamweaver CS4, CS5, and CS5.5
