Has anyone gotten this error? I have uninstalled and reinstalled a dozen times and nothing has changed. Is my DVD bad?

    Hi Bee,

There seems to be a problem while extracting the content from your TEMP directory.

Here is what you can do.

    • Copy the content from your DVD to the local machine.
    • Extract it on your drive, then, try to install it.

    OR

    • Download the setup from the below mentioned link.
    • Link :Adobe CS5.5 | CS5
    • Extract it on your local drive, try to install it.

Kindly share the results once done.

    Thanks,

Thanks, Atul, but neither solution worked.

    Method One:

    -----------------

After I extracted from my DVD and clicked the Set-up.exe, I got  "Installer failed to initialize: This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem."

So I clicked the link and got "Adobe Support Advisor has been discontinued." Then I clicked the "Visit Adobe Support section" and got unceremoniously dumped onto the main "Learn and Support" page. Dead end. I've experienced this on Adobe support pages more times than I can count.

    Method Two

    -----------------

I downloaded both files under CS 5.5 Design Premium. I tried to extract file 1 of the download without result. WinZip wouldn't do it, so I downloaded 7zip and tried that, since it's a 7zip file. It stopped at "Install.db" and would not proceed. I was offered an opportunity to skip that files, but it looked like a pretty important file so I canceled the extraction of "File 1".

So then I tried extracting the second file to a folder on my desktop and tried Set-up.exe once again. It repeated the "There were problems with your installation" error - same error 6, exactly the same as before. The only knowledge I can take away from this is that the problem is not my DVD. It appears to me to be a massive product failure that will never be fixed. Apparently i have to just eat it - that's about $2000 down the drain.

It's definitely not the computer - it's new. There's nothing wrong with the Windows installation. I've bought many Adobe products1990, including FramMaker, RoboHelp, Captivate, CS2 and CS4, and I was even a shareholder for a decade or so. But I have always had support problems - Adobe does not like to put any effort into supporting its very complex products.

Now it looks like I'm just done with Adobe. No way I'm going to buy CS6 after an experience like this.

    Hi Bee,

We certainly understand that you are putting in a lot of efforts to get  this issue fix.

We need a little more of your cooperation so that we can help you fix this problem.

    • You mentioned that you have got a new machine, we would also recommend you to check the system requirements on  Adobe - CS6 Release Notes
    • File 1 is the important file and needs to extracted. it seems that we are not able to extract it on this machine.
    • Could you please try to get this file on another machine and try to extract it on  that machine?
    • Before installing CS5.5, use CC cleaner tool and remove Adobe Application Manager from the list. Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

    Thanks,
