Exactly the same here. The 'troubleshooting' steps offered on this site are absolutely worthless, as are all of Adobe's installers on OSX.
And just how backward does a company have to be to NOT distribute the MOST CURRENT VERSION of their product for live download at ALL TIMES? WTF is this 'you've jsut installed a brand-new program that you've jsut downloaded - now go and get the updates' nonsense?

Hi BobbsieP,
I would suggest uninstalling Acrobat and then reinstalling the application. Uninstallation is not needed if you are facing this issue with Adobe Reader.
Warnoh, are you using the Acrobat X Pro as well or is it a different version. What troubleshooting steps have you performed till now?
Thanks

Gautham K - uninstalling, reinstalling, and activating the root user account. None of those things have worked. I still can't install the latest Acrobat update.

New error.
'Cannot download update files. Please verify that you are connected to the internet and check for updates again later.
Error: 1108'
I'm not even going to bother answering the question of whehter I'm 'connected to the internet' or not.
Is there a place anyehere that I can just download a bloody DMG or PKG from? Sheesh.

Hi,
You can download the updates directly from here : Adobe - Latest Product Updates
Please select the product & platform in the drop down menu and click on "Go".

I am having the same 1301 problem.
How do I re-install the program? If I uninstall it then will I not lose it for good? Where can I go to re-install it after I uninstall it? I initially downloaded it directly from the internet so I don't have an install disk or anything.

Adobe Acrobat X Pro. On a MacBook Air OS X 10.8.3.
Also, where do I find Adobe product directories to back up?

The folders need to be backed up only if you have installed any custom plugins or profiles.
I would recommend unisntalling via Cleaner tool and then reboot and reinstall.

I started the cleaner tool but it only found my photoshop to clean but did not find any other installations such as my Adobe Acrobat X Pro which I am concerned about.

Uninstall Acrobat X in Mac OS
Choose Applications > Adobe Acrobat X Pro, select the Acrobat X Uninstaller, and double-click it.
Follow the onscreen instructions to uninstall Acrobat.
In the Authenticate dialog box, type the user name and password for an administrator account and click OK.
Note: The uninstaller removes only Adobe Acrobat X files from the system. It does not remove Adobe Reader files, Acrobat user data, or files that are shared with other Adobe applications.
(Optional) Move any Adobe PDF Settings files that you created from the Library/Application Support/Adobe PDF folder and drag the folder to the Trash.

Thanks for that. I'm sure I can uninstall it. My concern is how to re-install it after I uninstall it?

You can either install it via the disk if you have it or download Acrobat X Pro from : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-acrobat-x-10-pro-reader-suite-direct-download-links-ddl.html
But make sure you follow the important instructions on the page before initiating the download.

Perhaps I haven't been clear.
I purchased Adobe Acrobat X Pro almost a year ago for $120 (student). I downloaded it from the internet so I do not have any disks (as stated in #8). Since a problem has recently surfaced with this software I would like to reinstall it. Actually, I would just like to fix the problem (1301) in any possible but it seems that a reinstall is the best way. Therefore, I would like to uninstall the program and then reinstall the exact same program that I have already paid $120 for. I do not want a free trial. I would like to re-download the same program in hopes that it will not have the same 1301 error that my current copy has.
Is that possible?

There's no difference between the trial version and the full version except for the no. of days of usage.
The trial is good for 30 days only. Once you enter the serial number you purchased in the trial version it will be converted to full.
The suggested step is to download the Acrobat 10 trial from the above link and then use the license key (serial number) you bought to activate the software.
