Error 1923 for Acrobat DC install under Windows 7

The Acrobat DC installer fails (somewhere after 80% progress) with Error 1923, even if I run it as Administrator (right-click on the installer exe).

This started as an upgrade from Acrobat XI, which the installer removed on the first round; control panel now shows no Acrobat version installed. (I do have Flash and Creative Suite 6.) Fails with the same error, whether run as user or admin.

"Error 1923: Service Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services."

What next?

Windows 7 Professional, SP 1, 64-bit.

Acrobat DC downloaded from Adobe today.

Solution found in Adobe article #4789492: this error can be due to a file being in use, so installer cannot overwrite it. (Pity the error msg doesn't reflect this...)

Article suggests rebooting, and making sure backup software is not active. That worked for me. (I ran install as administrator, just in case.)

(In case of continued failure, they suggest turning off Adobe Acrobat service.)
