I am a dinosaur! I am trying to run my ancient copy of Fireworks 3 that I purchased when it first came out and have used happily ever since.

I recently had my laptop running Win 7 rebuilt and since then cannot run FW.

It appears to install OK but when I try to initiate the message as in the title of this question comes up/

Any ideas anybody?

And thanks.

Two ideas

Right click the EXE and select a compatibility mode from the option window

Doing Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395 [says Encore and also for All Adobe programs] will sometimes fix "odd" or "permission" errors in Windows

you might be able to get a more recent version working, but i doubt something designed to work with win 98 will work on win 7.

John T Smith you are a genius! Worked immediately. Thank you so much. I found the program file in Explorer, right clicked, selected Administrator and bingo, Fireworks opened.
