Having trouble retaining registration information

I have installed Premier Elements 13 and Photoshop 13 multiple times on lab computers.  One day a computer works and the next day it requires logging in and registration serial numbers.  It is like the computer doesn't retain the information.  I have administrative rights so what could be the problem?

You might try right clicking on the program and choose "run as administrator". That may seem redundant, but this command has higher elevated privileges than an administrator account and hopefully you should retain the registration.

I am having difficulty finding the SLStore folder.  I couldn't find the C:\ProgramData\Adobe.  We are currently using Windows 7.  Could it be in a different directory?

Some Files and Folders are hidden by default, so in Windows:

Follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.

  1. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options.
  2. Click the View tab.
  3. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK.

I have gone around making the changes required.  About half the computers give an error message that says Error 16 and that the software has to be uninstalled and re-installed again.  I looked at one of these machines and it does make a new SLstore folder but doesn't make a new SLcache folder when trying to login to the software.  Is this the problem?  Please advise.

Hi,

Sorry for that inconvenience.

As you said that it is showing error 16, you can right click on that and run as administrator.

Jitendra,

Some computers are now working but others are not.  I am very frustrated with this.  This has been an ongoing problem since last school year.  Is this a rights issue for student logins?  What rights are needed for students to access Photoshop and Elements.  Is this an install issue by the tech people?  They try to migrate the install through the network and not sit down at every computer.  Please help me so the students can use the software.

Hi JoeDoug,

I am sorry for that.

Well Photoshop actually needs complete administrative rights.

Make sure that you have admin permissions on all these folders.

We have changed the administrative rights to the directories mentioned (all except C:\Program Files\Common Files\Macrovision Shared and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Macrovision Shared.  We didn't find these directories.  Do you know of someone I can contact to get this issue resolved?  We have been dealing with this since last school year and it really hasn't gotten any better.
