New Here ,
Apr 08, 2017 Apr 08, 2017

I am running low on disk space on drive C.  I have the latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom CC.  Can I safely delete Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7 64-bit?

I am running Windows 7.

If your computer uses a SSD (Solid State Drive), which I suspect it does, you should NOT use any Defrag programs on it. All that does is shorten the life cycle of a SSD.

I don't see why not.  Especially if you never use them.

But I want to remind you that external drives are very affordable now.  It's often best to keep your data files on a separate drive.  Reserve your primary drive for the operating system and software you use regularly.

Don't forget to use your Windows Utilities to Clean Disk and Defragment.  Those 2 routines can free up a lot of space that you may not know you have.

Nancy, thanks for the reply.  I do have my data files on a separate drive.  This folder  for the software itself.

Good suggestion re Clean Disk and Defragment.  I'll do that now.

Cheers

Don't DELETE anything on your system. Uninstall, that is Uninstall the older versions of PS and LR. You will find them in the Win 7 Control Panel under Programs and Features.

Thanks.  You are correct of course, and I did mean uninstall, and not delete.

Unless I hear differently, I think I will uninstall that folder.

BTW, Clean Disk gave me 3 GB more space, so thanks for that.

I will try defrag when I am not using my computer.

Cheers

Thanks JSM.  I hadn't heard that before so I did a quick Google search and came up with this excellent article:

Fragging wonderful: The truth about defragging your SSD | PCWorld

Summary:  Defragging can shorten the life cycle of an SSD AND the pay-for Defrag Tools don't help.  Well, one improved the speed by 5%, which the author said you wouldn't even notice.

So thanks for the heads up.

Cheers

Rex
