How do I solve Creative Cloud desktop app freezing at 42%?

In order to troubleshoot this I tried following the directive to use the cleaning tool, so as a first step I have tried to uninstall the CC app however I am getting the message that I must uninstall all of the CC apps, such as Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy, etc. before I can uninstall the CC app. Is this true? None of the online documentation indicates this as a pre-requisite to the uninstall procedure. Thanks.

yes, you must uninstall all cc programs before you can uninstall the cc desktop app.  if you decide to do that, do it correctly:

uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

restart your computer (don't skip this)

clear your os drive temp and tmp folders.  make sure you have read/write permissions for both folders.

reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.

if you're unable to install the cc desktop app at this stage, use an administrator account (solution 3 here, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/creative-cloud-missing-damaged.html)

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials.

I'm having this same problem too.
It freezes at 42%.

I can't uninstall and reinstall everything again as I don't have admin rights in the work PC.
Is there any chance a new release/update for the app will fix this issue?

Thanks

There are constantly new updates coming out. But as long as it is not recognised as being a bug, nobody will work on a solution for this. Your IT support needs to do what is necessary to install the software. 15 hours ago shows what needs to be done.

I cannot uninstall any CC programs in the first step, because CC desktop app is automatically attempting to update itself without my intervention. Each time it tries to do this it freezes at 42% on the progress bar, and prevents any other possible continuation to uninstall CC apps.

clear your os drive temp and tmp folders.  make sure you have read/write permissions for both folders.

then see if your cc app can update itself.

if that fails, using a browser that allows popups and cookies,  contact adobe support during pst business hours by clicking here and, when available, click 'chat', http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service-ccm.html
