How do you export a JPEG so text isn't pixelated?

Hello,

I'm struggling to export a high quality JPEG file so the text isn't pixelated to upload to a website.

See below the image quality after exporting as an JPEG using Adobe Photoshop CS3, is anyone able to help?

Kind Regards,

Becky

    Hi Becky-

By definition, a rasterized image will always have some level of pixelation; however, the higher the resolution (generally) the better.  When you say "high quality" what are your pixel dimensions?

Uploading to a web site: traditionally, pictures are rather low res and low quality for different reasons.

(Current new high res displays and high bandwidth are invalidating this old wisdom slowly, however)

To counter pixelisation, inventive minds have invented anti-aliasing. Anti-aliasing does not take away pixelisation but gives the illusion of a natural blending into the background of hard edges. That's missing on the OPs posted picture.

Photoshop handles antialiasing correctly if you use the correct parameters. It's a parameter of the Type-tool (Aliasing & anti-aliasing in Photoshop ).

    no antialias:

    Seen at 100%:

    "sharp" antialias:

    Seen at 100%:

    Hi All,

Thank you very much for helping! I've tried all your instructions and sadly my image still looks pixelated when uploaded

Is there anything else I can try?

    Kind Regards,

    Becky

Are you rasterizing that text to manipulate it to get that perspective? If so, you wont want to do that.

    Try this

Draw a rectangle using the shape tool (U)

Right click on shape layer and select convert to smart object

With the shape layer still selected, press ctrl+T to free transform the shape. With the shape in free transform, right click on the shape in your canvas and select Distort.

Drag each corner to match the corners of your object

    and press enter.

Now double click on the layer thumbnail to open and edit the smart object we just created.

The smart Object will open in a new window. Hide the fill later. Create a new layer and type your text.

Once you have put your text on the document, close it by clicking the exit icon for the canvas and click yes to save.

Your text should now be in the correct prospective and editable for future changes
