macOS Sierra. Version 10.12.2   iMac Retina 5K. Late 2015

Attempting to install CS4 Design Standard, after all of my apps stopped working when migrated to the new Mac.

=================================

The help page that everyone recommends for this issue does NOT answer the following:

I get the error:

System Requirements Error

This software cannot be installed because the file system of the Setup volume is not supported.

The information in the help section says that Mac OS Extended (Journaled) drives are supported. Disk utility says that my drive IS Mac OS Extended (Journaled), so why do I get the error?

How can I install the software?

    CS4 is not likely to work with Sierra at all.  Apple wasn't giving any consideration to supporting older programs when they devised their most recent operating systems.  If you want to run older software get you will probably need to have an older system.  I have a couple for that purpose.

    Thank you so much! I just got the software installed.  I haven't played with all of it yet, but certainly, Photoshop was back up and running.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate your helpful answer!

    Warmest regards, Ned!
