Bought new laptop. Did uninstall and deactivate CS5 from previous computer on 9/17/15. Tried to install CS5 on new computer. Entered code and got message the code does not match the product. Went back to CS4 disk and entered code. Asked to provide code for previous version. Entered code for CS3. CS4 installed. So how can I install CS5? Does the fact that each was an upgrade cause the problem?
Hi John,
When you would install CS5, it will first ask for the CS5 serial key and then, the serial key of the qualifying product which would be of CS4 version.
Could you make sure you are entering the serial key in that manner.
Also, please share a screenshot of the error that you receive if this does not help.

Followed your instructions, used the CS4 key and it started loading. Now the loading process is going really slow for an Asus N550 with an I7 chip and 8GB of memory. See snip it pic (png)

Had to stop the install, the only thing that is changing is the time to install - it keep increasing.

Tried again. Can't get past the 'Suite Configuration" and 5%. Cancel the download doesn't work either. Have to go to Task Manager to stop it.
After 3 hours, I quit for the day!
Thanks

Seems like the installation process is not going through properly.
Would request you to restart the machine and give it a try again.

Well, new day, restarted computer, same problem. Time remaining started at 22 min until it got to this point and then reversed and started going the other way (INCREASING). never did ask for the old CS4 code, just started installing.
Must not want me to use this disk.
Thanks

You can use this link to download the CS5 program from Adobe's website :

Well, went to the site and downloaded the Master Collection (probably wrong). Unzipped the files (status shown with capture5) and when finished it asked me to install my disk. Did and when it asked for the code I put in the CS5 code and got capture6. So I deleted the CS5 code and put in the CS4 code. Same problem - see capture7. I noticed as the files were unzipping that the word 'trial' was in many files. I checked my account and all I can see there is that I have registered CS5 the Win version but the site you sent me to has many downloads for CS5, not counting the non English ones.

This time I downloaded Design Standard and tried both CS4 and CS5 codes. Invalid!

You did not have to download Design Standard or Master Collection.
You need to scroll down on that page and expand Photoshop CS5 and download that.

Sorry but capture 8 shows there are more than one CS5 products to download and I tried 2 of them: Adobe CS5 Master Collection and Design Standard with both the CS4 and CS5 codes. They always indicate the code number is not valid.

Nope. That was not correct.
Sorry for the confusion.
Go to this link : https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-product-downloads.html
Scroll down till you see a tab for Photoshop CS5, CS5 Extended, expand it and download the file depending upon your operating system.

You must download the software installer for the product that you own.
That's the only one your serial number will work with.
If you own a serial number for Photoshop CS5 (standalone, not part of a Suite) then it will not work with any Suite installers. Only Photoshop CS5.
