I bought Fujitsu ScanSnap ix500; Acrobat DC serial number is supplied with it; serial number invalid

The scanner came with a serial number for Acrobat DC. However, after downloading, and installing, and typing in the serial number, I get the message "Please enter a valid serial number." I have triple-checked the serial number; the serial number I have typed in is what is printed on the sheet. Pleas help.

    Incidentally, after I had posted this query, I had a message from an individual named Desk.Paul.Harris (sic) who purported to be from the help desk, saying "We Sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. For better understanding of the issue provide us your Skype ID and Telephone Number so our one of the support person will contact you!" I took this to be a scam in light of the message below:

    We have received a number of reports where some members of this community are posing as Adobe Employees by offering to help troubleshoot issues personally using technologies such as Skype as a means to gain access to your computer and potentially your personal information.  All Adobe employees are required to have an orange ‘STAFF’ badge next to their user profile which can be seen if you mouse-over their profile picture.

    if you have their adobe id, post it so we can get them banned.

    you probably need an acrobat dc version from fujitsu.

    It's not; in the scanner documentation, Fujitsu give the name of the link to go to (see below), but this link then directs the user to Aobe's website.

    I initially downloaded Acrobat Standard, not Pro, although it doesn't specify within the Fujitsu documentation which version the serial number applies to. It didn't work with Standard, so I started downloading Pro, only to find that the Pro version downloads with the same name (and same size) as the Standard version, which led me to believe that the downloads are the same. So I didn't download the Pro version.
