Thinking of buying a mini as I use a pro at the moment and am looking for more space how will I run the programmes one each?

You are allowed to have two activated installations.  If the mini meets the system requirements there should not be an issue with installing and activating the software on it (I don't use Macs so I cannot say if the mini is an exception).
