I installed San Francisco as a system font, but I can't use it in any of the Creative Suite apps. Is there a way around this?

Community Beginner ,

I recently upgraded my system font from Helvetica to San Francisco, but I can't use the San Francisco font in any of the Adobe Creative Suite apps (IE Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). Is there a way for me to use it in these applications? If not, how do I get a copy that I can use in the Creative Suite?

So...update: last week Apple released the beta version of the San Francisco font for iOS9 and El Capitan developers: Fonts - Apple Developer

Only available for download with the Apple Developer membership ($99/yr) - BUT the download link is unavailable today (San Francisco fonts | Apple Developer Forums)

Once they fix the download and this ends up working with Adobe apps, I'll let you know!

Look for "SF UI Display" and "SF UI Text" in your font names. It's hopefully there, if it's installed right. I'm using XD, and I had been looking for San Francisco -- nothing. It was filed under the shorthand SF names. Good luck!

close ps and then reopen.  any font properly installed on your system should be available in ps.

likewise, with your other programs.

I've tried that, even rebooted. It's not showing up.

is it showing up in any other (non-adobe) program?

if not, it's not properly installed.  do you have win or mac?

This is still the case in 2017. PS won't see SF from within the system fonts. All other apps, of course, have no issue accessing the SF.

The past years Photoshop has become the pinnacle of what could possible go wrong.

Hope you gain control over this once very nice application !

Hey Adam,

I'm having the same issue. None of those solutions worked. Did you end up resolving this?

Thanks!

Yeah - I wonder if there is a system block on it? I'm on a Macbook Pro too, with Yosemite. I'll let you know if I find anything!

Good news... The link to download beta versions of the SF fonts is now active and available with the Apple Developer membership. Strict licensing applies of course, but I installed their .otf files in Fontbook and can access them in all Creative Suite apps.

Happy designing!

If I'm not an Apple developer, is there any other option? I'd really like to have it as soon as possible.

Thanks for all of the help!

Same issue here. I tried both on Mac and Windows and got the same result: the font is installed and I can't use it on CS, but I can see it on Word.

Experiencing the same issue in Photoshop (CC 2014), however, the San Francisco typeface is seen by Illustrator and other Apps such Sketch, Word, and Pages.

I finally found a version that worked for both. Apparently there is a Display version, and text version. Having both really helps!
