This was a problem for awhile, but it suddenly stopped doing it. All of the updates finally installed. My laptop is weird. Go figure. It's a Sony Vaio running Windows 7, lol.

Windows 7. It doesn't matter if I restart the computer. It still won't work.

    Step 1)

Launch Task Manager and end all Adobe related processes like Creative Cloud , CoreSync , AAMUpdater.................etc , also look for processes like Setup.exe , Windows Installer....etc

Also check if Windows update is running in background , if yes you will need to wait till the update process is completed.

    Step 2)

Press Windows button (located between Ctrl and Alt buttons) along with R button together at a time , you will get a run command window.

Type in below command and hit 'Enter' key.

    Services.msc

It will open Windows Services window.

Locate option named Windows Installer and then right click on it and select Properties option .

Make sure the StartUp Type is set to Manual .

And the Windows Installer service is started.

Do the same thing for Windows Module Installer service.

Also check whether any Anti-Virus scan is running in background.

Then try to update again and check.
