Illustrator CS3 set up

History:

I have an old G5 mac, running OS 10.5.8 on which I installed Adobe Master suite CS3 some time back. The installation disks are currently in another city. A few days ago I got repeated crashes when launching CS3. So I deinsatlled Illustrator. I found an old Ai CS3 Illustrator installation disk and installed it. It appeared to be the full product version but when I went to launch it it requested previous version serial no. verification. An old CS2 serial no. didn't do the trick. I contacted Adobe support by vhat today and they provided a lnkk to download Ai CS3. Which I duly did. Prblem is tnat during set up I am asked for MAster suite disk 1. Which as I've explained I don't have at hand. Is there a solution to this problem or a way around it? Help and advice much appreciated.

In order to install your software you need to have the serial number for it.  It might be available thru your Adobe account online though Adobe tends to no longer retain them for customers to find in their accounts.

You can also download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

Thanks for the advice Ned, I have a serial number for Ai CS3 which I've tried to install (on the back of the box)  and for Ai CS2 (ditto). The CS3 serial no is OK but during software set up I'm asked for an Upgrade check, when I enter the CS2 no. I get a msg saying the serial no. doesn't match the product selected.

The links you provide, thanks for that, send me to the download I tried already with Adoobe support. So no joy there I'm afraid.

This issue is ongoing and unresolved. Any help appreciated. I've furthermore tried to reinstall Ai CS3 from Creative Suite 3 Master Collection. I removed Ai CS3 from Applications and launched CS3 Master Collection Set Up, it shows Ai as still installed, so it cannot be reinstalled. When I choose < Deinstall components> Ai is not evident on the list of installed components. Just too baffling and I'm once again at stalemate.
