Question

Illustrator CS6 exit code 6

Hi,

I've been trying for the past couple days to install Illustrator CS6. I purchased it third party so it came with a redemption code that just gave me a download (not requiring a serial key).

The installation seems to go well until it gets to 42%. After that, the download speed gets abnormally faster. Then, at about 81%, it says, "Installation failed." This is the report I get:

Retrying the installation only puts it back to that 42% mark. And please don't give me a link to exit code 6 and 7. I've already scanned that page over and over. I've done nearly every suggestion on the page. I've uninstalled and reinstalled MSVC and restarted my desktop ad naseam, but nothing seems to be working. I need some real help, not a link to "help" page. I can't really change or rename any setup files since this is an intangible download.

I'm fairly new to Adobe's systems, so I don't know if installing Adobe Drive or AIR is actually relevant to CS6 if it will make things even worse. I recently installed Photoshop CS6 (no problem there whatsoever) and fear I'll corrupt it by tinkering around with Illustrator too much.

Thank you,

Navigate to C: > Program Files  >Adobe.

Open Adobe folder and let me know whether the Adobe Illustrator CS 6 folder is created or not ?

If Created, open it and check whether the Illustrator Launch icon is created or not ?

Thank you for the quick response.

I went to the program files and here's what I see:

Something must be wrong though, as I would imagine that Illustrator should show as an established application and a desktop icon like Photoshop shows down below. Anyway, here's what the screen looks like after I click on the highlighted file:

When I click on the shortcut, it loads up Illustrator fine but it erroneously marks it as a "Tryout" edition. I know for a fact that this is a legitimate copy as I was able to get the full version of Illustrator running on another desktop that I tested it on. For some reason, it marks the application on this computer as a "Tryout," so from what I've read so far, it looks like the installation is not complete, making the system read the download as a trial version. I know it's a trial version for sure because the "Deactivate" button under "Help" is grayed out and there's a "Product registration" button above it. Also, if this helps any, here's what the program list for the MSVC downloads on my desktop:

Sorry for late reply , stuck with some situation .

Error 16 is an configuration error .

The main reason for the cause of error  insufficient permissions to Licensing folders.

Sometimes, Corrupt licenses or Applications itself. Hence the message indicates Uninstall and reinstall.

The first thing , you can do is provide full permissions to necessary folders .

Method 1 :

We need to provide full permissions to folders like Adobe PCD , SLStore, SLCache. These folders specifically holds License related files.

Instead of providing full permissions to folders Individually , you can simply provide full permissions to Adobe folder ( Parent )  itself , so that the permissions will be Inherited to Sub folders and Files as well [ Child]  .

Method 2:

If providing full permissions does not solve the issue , you can try with providing Special permissions, before that , simply enable hidden Admin account once , which has Super user access by default.

Once logged in to Hidden Administrator , launch Illustrator application and check.

The steps are mentioned in the below link :

Let me know if you face any issue.

Once again, thank you very much for getting back to me.

I went to the Adobe file from the program files (x86) and changed every selection in the  "Group or user names" list so that each one is fully checked off for any type of control, especially "full control." I redownloaded Illustrator just now so it hasn't given me error 16 yet. I guess I'll let it sit for a while and see what happens. One thing though was that I wasn't able to change the "CREATOR OWNER" listing for some reason as it immediately reverted back to the default settings after I switched everything on to "allow." I hope that isn't going to be a problem.
