Hi!
My illustrator stopped working in the middle of my trying to save an illustrator file. I am awfully stuck as my mac is not shutting or restarting too.. says 'please quit illustrator to shut down/ restart'. I have no idea and although have been researching on google to find a solution I have really not moved anywhere. Was in the middle of designing a pattern for my portfolio page. Appreciate all help to get out of this insanity.
System details:
MacBook Air
Processor: 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB
Storage: 198.3GB free of 249.78 GB
Was working on Illustrator CC 2014 of Adobe Creative Cloud 1.9.1.474 (and I am pretty new to this).
Much thanx to all.
Regards,
Bhavana

Thanx so much for the info. This is really overwhelming.
I have now deleted 'adobe ai prefs' and illustrator's still not responding so I guess will hv to uninstall and reinstall then.
I have one more question (may be a stupid one but I need to ask) - will this have any effect on my present ai files as I only hope to be able to still use them.
Also, would you have any idea as what lead to this so I can avoid repeating that same thing in the future. I don't have a slightest clue and so to know the do's and don't would just be great. Last thing I remember I was working on this file (patterns) and hadn't saved it for a while and when I did it went into the "saving illustrator file" mode.. kept showing one quarter done but didn't go beyond that.
Much thanx again.
