Indesign CC 2017 loses installers at 70% and adobe helper, etc. drops to 0% in task manager

Hi!

I have tried numerous times to install Indesign CC 2017 thru the desktop app.

It loses the installers at 70%. As well the adobe helper and broker drop to zero as well as the other

associated adobe processes when you look in the task manager.

Previously I had to just download the standalone cloud version of Photoshop to get it to install properly.

I am on Windows 10 /64 with the application seeming to run itself as a 32.

Any suggestions on how to get this working right?

I live in Japan, so the phone option would get expensive,

I can follow instructions via email though

Hi Jeff,

I am not sure what Adobe chat could,

when on my own I looked deeper

and solved partial the problem on my own.

The rapport here in the forums I appreciate very much.

I do appreciate Bharat's help,

but I feel possible like in other companies flowchart manuals are used

to try and ascertain the problem.

In my case it is more specific.

My computer accepts standalone installers more easily.

As to why PS CC2017 finally installed I'm not sure.

Getting close to 10 times on uninstall, clean, reinstall the desktop app

to try and get ID CC2017 up and running.

I either need a standalone installation of ID CC2017,

or a seriously knowledgeable technician,

well experienced in their craft,

to be able to see the larger picture of what

I am experiencing and direct me correctly.

I have paid for the subscription,

and it would be nice to use CC2017.

As well the publishers prefer CC.

Any suggestions?

I have ID 6, PS CC 2017. I have an old Acrobat 7 pro, that I HOPE I can get by with to save my indesign files for printing.

Ok thanks Jeff.  I would agree with Bharat that your current installation of Photoshop CC 2017 would be affected.

Hi!

Thanks Jeffrey and ohmnath for your time and help!

I was away at work, but I just ran a report.

At the very first i had my VPN on, but turned that off the second

and third attempts. Before try 2 and 3 I reinstalled the desktop app.

the 2nd try i attempted ID CC 2017, the 3rd ID CC 2015.

both failed due to "libcef.dll" as seen below.

I do keep things updated.

AS WELL, I do have Adobe CS2 on my computer (which I am not sure if that adds to the problem or not).

This is new territory for me.

Jeff thanks for the update.  I am unsure though why you posted the crash log. 

Can you please post the error messages you discovered in the install log as discussed in message #2 of this discussion.

there are no actions to modify the post

that has the long logs in it.

i was hoping to shorten it to errors only,

or completely delete this post. not needed at this point.

Jeff thanks for the update.  To confirm what version of InDesign did you end up installing?  Also do you have a case number from your interaction with our support team that I can reference?

I have edited post #5 and removed the log files from the post.

Jeff I am sorry you are facing difficulties installing InDesign CC 2017 on Windows 10 64-bit.  You mentioned you have attempted to install InDesign CC 2017 so far what steps have you implemented to resolve the error?

Jeff please review the install log to determine why InDesign CC 2017 is failing to install.  Details on how to locate the install log can be found at Creative Cloud download and install errors​.  Please post any errors you discover to this discussion.
